Anyone here been to a Car Show? We've been to a few, but the one we went to yesterday, was highly interesting. It was called Classic Car And Emergency Vehicle Show. Even emergency vehicles came in from So California! Emergency Vehicles and Classic Cars! There was a replica's of: patrol car from the old tv show Highway Patrol starring Broderick Crawford (1955 thru 1959), the Undercover car (red w/white strip) Ford Gran Torino used in the show Starsky & Hutch, the first movie of Ghostbusters wagon, the Adam-12 (L.A.P.D.) patrol car and a patrol car commemorating those First Responders that died in the 9-11 attack. There was a Star Wars car and a car with the old Drive-In movie speakers (hang on drivers side window). Equestrian Mounted Police and Sheriff's Dept. w/four horses. Swat Team vehicle/officers, Las Vegas Marshall's Office Patrol car and officers, Nevada State Police, Las Vegas Metro Police officers/patrol cars and Fire Department vehicles. Some had their emergency lights on. And, guess who show up...........actor Erik Estrada, who starred in the old CHiPS tv show as "Ponch" and in the movie CHiPS "99". I watched that show quite often and have the movie CHiPS "99". He stopped by where the Las Vegas Metro Police had three patrol motorcycles parked and got his picture taken with three officers. My wife got into the picture also. Adrain Zmed, who stared as Officer Vince Romano in the police tv show TJ Hooker (William Shatner) was there, but we didn't see him. Like I said, the most interesting Car Show we'd ever been to!!
Now that it will be getting warmer, car shows will be making their appearance once again. The ones I've been to are classic cars from days gone by from the '40s, '50s etc. They sure bring back memories. I once saw a 1952 Mercury 2 door hardtop like the one I had.
I used to go all the time, to modern car shows and to antique car shows. I went to a small local car show just a few months ago with my neighbors. It was the first time in many years that I've done that. These days it makes me feel old to see "classic cars" that either I have owned or family members have owned. (Yeh, I've sat in the back seat of that Studebaker Lark. And I've driven that Corvair Monza, in spite of Ralph Nader's advice. My father had a Model T.)
Well, Marie, this is the first one we've gone to that had both old and new emergency vehicles in it. And, no tv or movie related vehicles in the other ones we've been to. That's what made this car show so, so interesting. And then, to have an old tv/move celebrity show up, was extra nice.
I bet he was smiling. The guy is in perpetual Dental Implant Commercial mode. It makes my cheeks ache. I do like Broderick Crawford. He was in a lot of westerns. So did the old emergency vehicles have the legacy medical technology?
I liked the hopped up 55 Chevys when young, then after kids I liked the long roomy Lincolns. Of course they had to be older models to match my pocketbook. But most of the time raising kids was a van.
TV show "CHiPS" star, Erik Estrada (Ponch) standing with Las Vegas PD Motorcycle Patrolman. My wife (Nancy) at end.
