Here is an International Business Times (U.K.) article on this. Wagter has been outspoken regarding the depth of Chinese influence and other corruption in Canadian government...specifically Vancouver. He was taken to hospital 3 days ago for "evaluation" as the result of a traffic stop. I find no details on the specifics of the traffic stop or what specific behaviour he exhibited that justified this action. British Columbia's Mental Health Act permits doctors to order temporary involuntary psychiatric assessment if a person appears unable to safely care for themselves or may pose a risk because of a mental disorder.

Neither side (the government or his family) have made any statements.

There is a lot of stuff on the Internet about various Canadian provinces or people who are unhappy with the direction that Canada has long been going in, and Canada's politics are frequently criticized by various factions in the United States, just as U.S. policies are criticized in Canada, so the topic of the OP is relevant. I don't know how all of the woman-bashing stuff fits into it, however, and I will admit that I am unwilling to view the large number of videos that have been posted that are supposedly supportive of this view, although I will express my confusion as to what this has to do with the subject of the OP. I have frequently made light of Canadians, just as I have often made fun of women, but I never considered hating either of these groups, and don't know what one has to do with the other. I'm from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and we refer to people from the Lower Peninsula as trolls, as they live below the bridge, and I now live in Maine where we often refer to people from Massachusetts as "Massholes," but this stuff isn't intended to be taken seriously. There are serious things in the world but someone disagreeing with you on an Internet forum ain't one of them.

Yeh, every "look at what Canada and Europe are doing" post should come with the admonition "Coming soon to America...if we let it don't find a way to stop it." The ability to incarcerate in mental institutions, the aggressive government-sponsored assisted suicide...you better believe there are those here who are taking notes and figuring out a strategy. Foreign cultures have already made significant inroads. Some portion of the citizenry (here and elsewhere) seem to be fine with it, but it's an after-the-fact opinion, done without prior consent. Most of us (globally) are enraged.
