For years, like many I felt obligated to attend, weddings, funerals, birthday parties- mainly kiddie ones, and anniversary parties. Oh and office politics
of regardless of how new you were to contribute to a fund for someone you may or may not know.
Now, I am not knocking anyone who relishes in doing these things,if you truly want to comply. But to be judged for not doing so is, well wrong.
I feel these things should be by choice only, and not some sort of commitment.
It can be liberating to attend a function because you want to versus, feeling it is expected of you.
Other choices over the years, some due to health, or distance and availability, I have also declined.
Touching up my red hair became impossible once my arms stopped working without much pain. But I found it very liberating, not to have to color or touch up. To stop plucking eyebrows, when I was never a hairy person like my daughters. To not have to wear makeup everyday,to be bra free, shoe free. To stop feeling like my nails had to look like other females. Besides manicures and pedicure are expensive.
Not sure what brought on this line of thought this morning, but felt the need to share.
Have you made changes over the years for whatever reason, but to suit yourself?
