Bobby Cole is in the hospital !

Thanks for the added research Faye and no, I didn’t have the gut wretching reaction that one could call vomiting. I choked up some phlegm when we got to the ER and they called it vomiting but it was just something I do nearly every morning when I first get up.

So far as the Tinnitus thing. I’ve had it 24/7/365 since coming out of the Nam and no, it didn’t change when I was going through the waves of dizzy spells I was experiencing.
The one thing that had me worried was the heavy sweats. I don’t normally sweat; at least, not profusely. No matter how hot, how much I work out or even preparing food over a flaming broiler in a 120 degree professional kitchen, the most evident sweat I do might be on my forehead which is why I seriously thought of a heart attack.
The extreme dizziness was worrisome, the nausea undoubtedly was a result of being dizzy but still made me worry a little bit more but the sweats…totally uncharacteristic for me hence a trip to the ER.

Alas, it’s just plain ol’ uninvited calcium carbonate or something like that floating around in a canal in my inner ear.
Even if the trip to the hospital proved not helpful, with Dr Youtube on call, I am glad it was available if you actually had need.

Many thanks for all the info @Bobby Cole. I think you have it resolved since the symptoms are gone after doing the Dr. Pola maneuver. It doesn't matter what method one uses as long as they get the crystals dislodged out of the canal.

For hard to dislodge crystals, the old original Epley method, works the best. Physical therapist and Chiropractors have developed a hundred different ways of dislodging crystal causing BPPV. I say use what works best with the least amount of suffering. Anyway glad you found a method that you can tolerate and gets great results.

I am very glad you don't have a worse inner ear disorder that may take months or years to get controlled.

. . . they are just saying it was a bad case of vertigo, for no known reasons.
I'm sorry you guys are going through this stuff. I will also be praying for you both.

For the past few years, I have been suffering through vertigo, tinnitus, and extreme nausea.

My doctor explained to me that there was no clue as to what was causing these disorders, though she gave possibilities, and she believed it is/was Ménière's disease. She wasn't sure that the tinnitus and vertigo are actually part of the problem, although the nausea is absolutely related to the vertigo.

She did a thing where she put her hands on my face and suddenly twisted my head. This "procedure" fixed the vertigo but caused my nausea and vomiting to be critically worse for nearly 30 minutes.

She gives me Prednisone when I need it, which seems to take care of the vertigo.

She also gives me Zofran -- which I carry around with me in my purse because the nausea comes on with virtually no warning. -- for nausea.

I take nothing for the tinnitus and have sort of gotten used to the constant ringing in my ears.

They are still testing me -- particularly my hearing. Anyway, I still have all three conditions, but when I have had what seems like settling sometimes the testing sets it off again.

On the contrary Mary, the trip to the hospital was overwhelmingly helpful !!
All the testing, the poking and prodding not to even mention too highly of the vast exuberance the staff seemed to have whilst showing their proficiency of marksmanship with a needle, things were revealed that could not have been otherwise.

As I mentioned before, I had a nodule that was expected to grow in my left lung. It disappeared. I had 6 fairly major concerns just a couple of weeks ago regarding my bloodwork that were all now normal. My aortic valve was slightly calcified but now, clean and working like a Swiss watch.
Even my blood / oxygen level is maintaining between 97% and now, 99% whilst before my “incident” was all over the place.
I have no doubts that I will at some point feel the effects of Vertigo again but after a few moves, it’s gone for now too.

The way I see it, there are times when God needs to get one’s attention and just normal day to day life doesn’t do it then something totally out of the realm of normalcy has to be implemented. In other words, He got my attention and with that new attention, my belief in God, prayer and just knowing that He sees me has all been revitalized so yes, the trip was indeed necessary.

It is only Meniere's disease because the doctor doesn't have the expertise to find the under lying cause of your Endolymphatic Hydrops.

If you understand what is happening during full blown EH, said to have gone Meniere, because of symptoms, you will find it can be treated with diet. The Zofran is a great thing and can save one from dehydration and an unpleasant ER visit. The other meds for Meniere Syndrome, are not a cure or even a healthy control.

Understand that your Meniere's syndrome, is not a disease but a collection of symptoms. What is causing the endolymph surges can be addressed with diet. EH gets its name from the hydraulic action of the endolymph fluid as it expands the endolymph sac to a point where sodium mixes with potassium and this cause a toxic environment for the balance nerves, thus all the horrible symptoms of full blown EH or Meniere's syndrome.

Meniere's disease refers back to 1850 and a French doctor, Prosper Meniere, that first described the symptoms of full blown EH. It was 1950 before a doctor discovered what was happening during a "Meniere" episode. The importance of understanding what action is happening when Meniere symptoms rear their ugly head, is treatment. The most successful treatment is diet. 5 small meals a day, all balanced for fats, protein, and carbs. A good guideline is the Dr. Sears diet. I have been on a modified version of it that was designed by Dr. Epley and Dr. Black. It works along with keeping vitamin D3 at a higher level. High end of normal is ideal. One modification is keeping sodium higher than Meniere's advocates say you should. Low sodium is a mistake, just like taking less protein is a mistake. It is all about balance.
