A new something all the time

Seems like everyday there is something new for me to deal with, health wise. Even small irritating things, hiccups, I use to never get hiccups, a sinus headache, never get headaches. Anyways, about 2 weeks ago I had my usual left leg problem only worse. Mark had to wait on me constantly as waling could not be done well. It was much more painful this time and lasting longer. I finally decided I would see the Gp get his view point.
Now I hurt this left knew really bad in 2016,when I fell hard and it was stupidity on my part. So hard a fall made a permanent dent in knee cap . I cried! So my knee area was swollen as usual . Thought maybe bursitis.
Dr called fro x-ray. Young woman who did x-ray was eve so easy handling my leg area. A small twist here and turn here as she positioned my led for x-ray. As I am walking with my cane back to the room to see doctor, something was noticeably different. I could walk, almost no pain?
Dr come is in and I said , here's something weird . I am almost healed from the gentle twist and turning of my knee . Big grin,, yeah and I know why.
First off you have small tear in the meniscus and it was dislocated. Her moving you leg around put it back in place. I was speechless. Gave me a cortisone shot, and also said I have a lot of scar tissue I that leg. Walking good, still putting ice on in twice daily.
This morning I woke with a sore spot in the middle ball of my foot...sigh , my work is never done.
;)

Speaking of hiccups, they drive me absolutely insane when I get them. Sometimes I have digestive problems and they start. Nothing I did could stop those ruddy things and my bedroom looked like WWIII had broken out after I just about tore everything apart. Finally, my mother gave me a glass of water with bromo in it and ordered me to drink it without stopping. Worked. Needless to say, I keep it on hand to this day.

Sometimes just drinking a large glass of water while holding your breath does the trick. Anything that tweaks the vagus nerve.

I only get hiccups if I’m under a lot of stress - like when husband passed two years ago and equipment started breaking that had been fine before that - the two year old garage door for example.

Anyway, what works for me to get rid of hiccups is to put my face toward the floor, take a drink of water and swallow with my head upside down.

Sorry about your leg, foot and hope you get better soon.

Holding my breath will usually stop the hiccups for me, but not always. Sometimes, I just have to wait them out. Fortunately, that's not a common problem for me,

Ice cream headaches are way worse, and, for the past few years, I'll sometimes get an ice cream headache after only a couple of spoons of ice cream.

My father died of melanoma that metastasized to his colon (so technically not "colon cancer" though it moved to his colon). He was plagued by hiccups in the final months of his life.

"Intractable or persistent hiccups (lasting >48 hours) can be an uncommon, early, or symptomatic presentation of advanced colon cancer or its metastasis, particularly to the liver. They often result from irritation of the nerves controlling the diaphragm (phrenic or vagus nerves) due to tumor growth or side effects from chemotherapy. "

That's great news about your meniscus. Did you feel it slip back into place? That happened with my shoulder. Sitting in the emergency room, and it just slid back into place. Relief was instant.

um maybe, it sounds Iffy depending what you read and wanna believe
My right knee pops in and out and does weird things, so I never trust it going up or down any kind of steps. The knee brace does help stabilize it, but i only wear one when it is really bad, and then only for a few hours. It gets too tight and uncomfortable to leave on for much longer, but it really does help support my knee and keep it in place better.

I have a knee brace that has velcro straps and a plastic "cap" thing that goes over the front of the knee. I like that it is adjustable and not overly tight like the elastic ones. I'm surprised your doctor didn't advise you about wearing or not wearing a brace.

Um well it may be that I will have to resort to a brace, meantime I am gonna try and be careful.:giggle:

Well sir I was doing real good until about 1am a trip to the bathroom caused .. yelled out in pain! Apparently the meniscus has slipped out again and this time is worse than ever. Sigh.
I have tried different braces thru out the night, it too small or do not work. I have been wrapping in ace bandage when I get up and that helps some. I have tried turning and roll on knee like the x-ray person did , but too painful and no results.
I will call doctor on Monday and hope he is in. Maybe another shot. I have important app t Thursday and it's a 3 hour ride to get there. Provided I can even get in the truck.:(😢
