    Too many plants and too few suitable pots

    If all else fails...Improvise. I have been growing sempervivums for about 40 years, and have many types and colors. Some even produce round, little little cabbage-like devils that roll away from mama and find their own spot. Fun to grow.

    There's a fungus among us

    I have been reading a lot about how fungi and trees interact, and how this interaction is a benefit to the environment. This guy, a Jelly Ear, just seems to have the job of cleaning up decaying matter and maybe showing an arborist that the tree should be inspected for rot. Feels like Jello!

    Unfinished business

    I wanted to try and replicate a beautiful crystal garden in a large fishbowl that my grandmother (Granny)often displayed in the front window. Granny used a lump of coal, some salt and laundry bluing. I loved to watch it grow. One problem: Not a lump of coal to be found.

    Double benefits of growing a water garden in barrel

    Downsizing from the heavy garden work, but still can manage a little water garden. Mot only the birds like it, but tree frogs reproduce in it.
