Shopping--What did you buy?

I ordered some fall shirts and tops. I also ordered 2 handbags from Macy's sale and Brahmin's website. I have a genuine handbag addiction so I have decided they are my "hobby" and "collection." I am running out of room to store them so now I'm shopping for a tall shelf unit from Amazon.

I might as well have the kids going, "what the hell?" when I die and they go into my closet.

I have friends with tons of Longaberger baskets. Prices seem to have gone the way of Beanie Babies. I never saw what the attraction to the baskets was. "Famous for being famous."

Amazon had Prime day a couple of days ago. I ordered two planters for my front porch, an extra-large paper towel holder, shoes, and a few pairs of Darn Tough socks for my husband.

What is up with the HUGE rolls of paper towels these days? Jumbo paper towels do not fit my current holder. I also don’t like those select-a-size paper towels. I want full size sheets, which seems to be getting harder to find. I’m picky. I only like certain brands of paper towels too.

I'm just the opposite with paper towels; I have to have the select-a-size. :D I have the Amazon brand "Presto" on subscribe and save, so I haven't bought any other brand in 6 or 7 years now. I have seen the "triple roll" huge packages of Bounty and I don't think they'd fit my holder, either.

I have never seen anything as stupid as the Beanie Baby craze. My husband's brother and his wife bought thousands of dollars in that crap. They were the ones sitting outside of stores at dawn on "release day" like a pair of morons. Now they have boxes of worthless stuffed toys in their attic; what a great investment. I was buying Exxon stock so I think I won that one.

There were times I likened Beanie Babies to some worthless stock that took off and then crashed. 25¢ worth of beans and cloth selling for $200 merely because someone else will pay that...but there is no intrinsic value.

I guess I am wasteful using the full sheets.:p I told my husband that we are going to have to start using select-a-size, since that is just about all I can find. Change is hard! :ROFLMAO:

Yelling at Clouds warning:
Daggone Walmart changed the packaging of their Great Value paper towels and of their Great Value toilet paper so that the paper towels were completely new and the toilet paper looks like the original paper towels. Guess what I bought a jumbo pak of? I had no idea until I opened it up that it was to wipe something other than my countertop. I've not taken the TP back but I won't use it, since I stick with a TP brand that fully dissolves and does not plug up my septic line.

Back to our regularly scheduled topic, which is already in progress:
Regarding the split sheets...I like not having to use a full sheet when I don't need it. But I've never looked at the per-in² price to see if the added cost of perforating half sheets offsets the savings from just buying full-sheet brands.

Sometimes I think I'm a reincarnated Depression Era kid.

Have you compared prices for ghee versus high fat content butter to make it?
I was unaware there was such a thing as high fat content butter, unless you just mean any butter. I've only bought pre-made ghee once, but have made it dozens of times from every brand of stick butter I could find as well as Amish butter. The stick butters are all identical regarding how they go through the various stages, while Amish butter is way different from the sticks. I've not done a side-by-side comparison to say which is better tasting.

The easiest way to find out is by making biscuits. USDA considers 80% butterfat butter. EU requires 82% and above. Some small producers pass the threshold. When you clarify for ghee you can tell.
Your Amish cows are happy and well fed:)

Big money to the vet catalogues today:

1. Metacare by Equithrive for the fat horse leaning toward metabolic issues.

2. GUT powder form for the elderly thin horse; it addresses hind gut issues. He is also on Purina’s Outlast, that I buy from Tractor Supply, which “—Neutralizes Stomach Acid Fast: It uses a specialized seaweed-derived calcium with a honeycomb structure to buffer stomach acid quickly—raising pH levels within two minutes of consumption—-“.

I have to have the precious fella on a long term daily dose of Previcox, which is eventually hard on the stomach. These two products work well together and so far are preventing any side affects from the Previcox.

3. Cox Veterinary Labs “N'Ice N Cool Pain Stopper.” “—- is a topical cooling gel formulated for horses following training, exercise, or daily work. This menthol-based freeze gel delivers an immediate cooling sensation to help promote overall comfort. Its gel consistency allows for controlled, targeted application, making it a convenient option for routine post-exercise care.”

Not for the horses ^^^^^ I’ve been using this on myself for years and have gotten a few of my friends started on it as well. I also use it on my 12-1/2 year old Catahoula/Pit Bull for his hips.

4. Free shipping on everything except the gallon of Pain Stopper but I’ll suck that up since this stuff is as close to a magic bullet for arthritis inflammation as it gets. I use it like hand and body lotion when I have a lot of work to do.

I never thought they were actually triple roll. I remember when a roll of paper towels was just that and how big it was.

I wonder how many people buy paper towels from the Dollar Store because they are cheaper per roll, not noticing that they're half the size. My wife does that, but I'm pretty sure she realizes how small they are. We usually use the Amazon towels that I have a subscription to, but sometimes we run out before the new case comes. When people were ripping other people's hair out trying to get to the few paper towel and toilet paper rolls that were left during the COVID nonsense, Amazon kept my subscription coming.

The cheap paper towels are also thinner. I still have one roll left at the barn and one sheet isn’t worth a pinch of salt to wipe the counter area where I mix the feed with water.😡

Another slap in the wallet is the candy bars kids have to sell for school. I paid two dollars for a 1.3 ounce chocolate bar one of my chiropractor’s staff was selling for her daughter. 1.3 ounces isn’t much bigger than one Hershey’s Kisses used to be💸💸. Annnnd, when I read the fine print on the wrapper, it said $2.50 in Alaska & Hawaii 😳😳
