How's the Weather Where You Are?

We got over 5" of rain in the past 2 days. Not sure exactly how much because our 5" gauge ran over, but every drop was welcome. Now if we could just get some cool temps!

I could’ve used some of that.

My area might have received ~3\8” Saturday to Sunday. We are in Level Four drought so while that amount was better than a pike in the eyecwith a sharp stick, it wasn’t near enough.

On the plus side, I think the mid/high 90 days are over, but we are still predicted to see mid/high 80’s toward the end of this week.

50 degrees and low dewpoints have been great ways to start these last few days🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

That is about the same thing as happened here, @Connie Bennett . We had one rain over the whole weekend, although there were clouds on the radar all around the area, just no rain right where we are at.
Leaves are coming off the trees and the back yard is pretty well covered in leaves right now, so autumn is defnintely arriving here, too.

@Yvonne Smith looks like we are going to feel some affects from the first hurricane of the season, named Isaias.

We are supposed to see a good amount of much needed rain, but too much at once won’t be good because the ground is hard.

I think you’re closer to the main event than I am. How are you set in terms of prep🤠
We never get anything this far north except rain and maybe thunderstorms and some heavy wind. We just have basic prep in case we lose power for a while, which can happen anytime there is a lot of wind to blow over trees.

We live in a small knoll, and high enough that we do not have to be concerned about flooding either, although some of the areas around Huntsville flood in heavy rain and roads will have to close down.
I hope we do get some good rain, and that it comes slow enough that it has a chance to soak into the ground.

Sounds like we live in similar environments. I allegedly live in the second highest spot in the county and this property has excellent drainage. If I ever flood, the whole county is likely under water.

Wind can be a problem, but the real issue is ice. We get ice storms when others may get snow. There’s no winter maintenance on my road. The two curvy hills are shaded and can stay iced over longer than the rest of the road.

I am also hoping for some good rain⛈️🙏⛈️🙏

The Nashville meteorologist on every channel are already issuing wind warnings for us as the cone is supposed to be aimed due north toward us that will take in the Huntsville area if I’m not mistaken.

Those of us that are caught in any degree of this storm on the horse forum are already relaying our preparations to each other as a reminder because we haven’t had a bad storm in quite a while.

Horses in, or horses out is always a debate. My horses have a run in, in one side of the barn so they do what they want, which is always stand at the edge of the barn door with the overhang, protecting them watching the storm. Very rarely have they gone clear to the back of the stall to “hide “. I know this because I can see them from the house lol lol . The general consensus otherwise is horses out, in case the Barn would crash on them and the vet wouldn’t be able to get them out and save them. They stand a better chance of being saved from any injuries if they are in the pasture.

Those of us with Generators have them in the ready. Ample feed supply for all the critters and ourselves. Cash on hand in case the ATM machines don’t work. People closer to the Gulf have decided not to leave in the hopes they can weather the storm, because trying to fight traffic to get out would be too hazardous, pulling a horse trailer.

We have the same exercise every time there’s a hurricane or a tornado warning. It’s in our nature because we love our animals more than we love ourselves……..

We will definitely be getting rain from the storm by this weekend it appears. It remains to be seen how much rain and what kind oaf a storm comes along with it at this point. The temperature is not even supposed to get out of the 60’s on Saturday, with 100% chance of rain, so it will definitely be a cold and wet weekend, from what we can see thus far.
The kitties are spending more time in the house now, too.
