What Are You Doing Today?

So….we’re coming back from the blood letters and about half way home the GMC started to overheat.
Yeah, the same truck that I just replaced the radiator for not to exclude the replacement of the thermostat, full system flush and a bunch of time bleeding the air from. That GMC !

Anyway, I pulled into a restaurant parking lot (it was empty) and just turned the key off and BANG ! Steam rolling out from under the hood, water and coolant running all over the pavement and my wife in a total state of shock.

Over an hour later, AAA gave us the ride of shame back to the house and about 2 more hours after that I started into the disassembly mode. (Stephanie, No disassemble Johnny 5). .

The problem? Top radiator hose. 6-7” split. Cost of the hose? $89 bucks. More than the new radiator cost me.

I finally took off the snowblower yesterday and managed to drive the tractor to the big greenhouse for the first time this year. That means we can carry heavy stuff over there as needs arise. Back blade is on and I did some driveway work as well, but the ground is still frozen solid, so what can be accomplished is limited. There is water everywhere since nothing can soak in when the ground is frozen solid. The temperature did not go below freezing again last night, so there is hope.

Temps are into the 40s F. during the day and the snow is melting rapidly now. Transplanting (up-potting) is almost done for the first round and greenhouse cucumbers will be planted today.

I put my car "back together."

It's a hatchback, which is great for things like luggage and groceries, and even "freight" like many building materials. But these models seem to have a hard to fix flaw that leads to moisture infiltration from rain and even more so snow and ice.

I had taken out my "bedliner" and opened up the spare tire well, mopped up five paper towels worth of water, sprayed some WD-40 to help prevent rust as a film of oil, and have been cracking windows on sunny days to dry things out.

Now after putting it back together I have a small dehumidifier and a powerstation in there to help dry things out further. The last thing I want is mold and mildew.

Other model years there was a "fix" issued that was just a template for riling two drain holes and grommets for the new holes. Nothing to address the source of the leak, which appears to be a manufacturing defect where a rivet was improperly seated against its seal ring. Getting at this means basically taking the heavy hatch itself off without letting it twist and deform and possibly break the glass. So it seems to be a 2 to 3 man job. Grr.

At least I found a 60 watt dehumidifier on sale.

An old friend came to visit. We had a good gossip session. Did we leave someone out? I do not think so. SO had a bad night with allergies after cleaning shop vac filters. So we did the everybody up every hour. Poor him! Small lunch and I pulled my daily quota of stuff out of the ground. A glass of Merlot and now a turn in the hot tub. He sounds a bit better.

Something to use those leftover COVID masks for in the future. :ROFLMAO:
