News is lacking

Or at least it seems to me top stories & recent events just don't get the kind of coverage that the recent trillionaire gets. I'd like some follow up stats on these.

1. Cops killing blacks <--- not intended to be about race just what was in the news for months on end. Still happening or did that as a problem go away completely?

2. Southern border crossings level of crossings & deportations. And what ever happened to alligator alley?

3. Better coverage of the war with Iran. The if you do this I'll do that back & forth for months is confusing to me.

4. The intelligence community seems to be lacking. The amount of missals, the amount of fast boats that should have been easy to find somehow manage to mysteriously appear.
 
We have short attention spans. News reports need to catch our attention to sell.
Cops have never killed that many blacks. So it is harder to find to report on. Black on black killing is much more numerous but not politically helpful.
Trump built a wall! Cut crossings to near zero. But there have been huge tunnels found recently.
The see saw reports on Iran don't keep the interest that an actual solution would.
I think the intelligence community has done an exceptional job at limiting destruction to just what was necessary.

@Jose Alverez, you are correct. Given that we famously have 24-hour news availability today, as compared to a brief news hour, we seem to get a lot of information about things that most people wouldn't otherwise be concerned about, and very little about other things, and, as you point out, news events seem to just go away without follow-up.

Much of our news is driven by whatever the political entities behind the news organizations want us to focus on at the moment, and others are intended to distract us from things that they don't want us to focus on.
 
Sorry but to me Jose like others who join here, and never show back up are looking to start something. When they can not, they move on. Then the those who join here in order to con someone or looking for a date. never return. Sorry it bugs me.:rolleyes:

There is that, yes, but we never know whether someone is going to stick around long enough to become a part of this forum until they show us.

Yes, but those who stay become friends and just talk about their lives mostly. We don't have too much big news to report to hold Jose's interest. Even our squabbles are not big enough.
It is funny here in the real world I went to lunch with friends and a new addition. My oldest friend warned me about her in advance that the newbie was kind of boring. All she wants to talk about is horses.
What? we used to do that all the time. I would not find that boring although all my talk is in the past and hers will be in the present. My oldest friend still has old horses but she has moved on to dog training. Tastes change.
All I have is a guinea pig for a house pet. I can see that as boring.

Since the guinea pigs are your video and not some AI thing off the internet, I love that too❤️

Two days ago I heard from a good friend I had not spoken to in years because lives get busy. I did not know she had my phone number, but one of her daughters that I do keep in touch with because she was a good friend of my sons, must have given my number to her mom.

It was strange because I had been thinking about her and hoping she and her is esstranged husband, they’re now back together, are doing OK. Somehow someway she butt dialed me while she was in church lol lol. She texted me and said she would call me back later that day.

That evening we had a 90 minute phone call and had no trouble whatsoever finding things to talk about and catch up on. Including horses because she had had horses for her children as they were growing up and knew that I still had horses. She was sad when I told her all the horses that she remembered that I moved from PA when I left have passed away and are buried on this farm.

We did a lot of catching up on a lot of subjects. This woman was somebody. I never had problems finding things to talk about on any subject matter. It reminded me how much I missed her, especially when she yelled at her husband about eating all the strawberry shortcake she had made, and I remembered that out of all of our circle of friends, she was by far the very best Cook and Baker.
 
@Hedi Mitchell people joining the forum, and then never hearing from them again happens all the time on the horse forum I have belonged to since 2008. On rare occasion, one of them will come back in after a couple of years and ask a question if they have an issue with one of their horses. I find it amazing they even remembered their password.

Sometimes these people are also trolls and just want to start problems.

Sometimes as is my case, I just do not have anything to contribute to the subjects that are recent so I keep quiet because I don’t like the subject material or I don’t like some of the snarky comments. I have too many things going on in my real life to be bothered with snarkiness on a forum. That is not why I joined.🤠🤠
