"Marie", has a new primary care "Doctor" now

Not much to add as of now, just a big change in her sleeping habits, stays in bed to around 2 pm for last 10 days which is a big change. She hasn't gone out on the porch for 10 days either. She always loved going our there during the day. Not to mention going anywhere in the van like she used to. We've put hundreds of miles on it since this happened, She would say get me out of here and I became a professional at getting her on the road, it was like the fire drill we had as a kid in school, had to move.

Funny how we can get used to things; only to change in a heart beat. Had the worse panic attack of my life two mornings ago, first thing in morning, made it out to porch and Dwayne was fixing to leave and it happened thought I was a goner at the time; they are horrible, usually have one at night, but not so much in mornings. This one was different think all this just hit me at once, all I could think was who will care for Marie, just made it worse, freaked Dwayne out lasted over an hour he started to leave I told him I will be o k, then I kept going in and out screen door thinking it will be o k, no it won't until I stopped him from leaving. Then let him go, I wasn't able to comprehend what he said, just kept panicking. HATE those.

So worried about Marie, hurts so much, sure GOD has his plans, just turned my world upside down.

Update; things still about the same here, "rough" night last night, she had lots of pain keeping her up;u and me all night. We made it thru and she's been sleeping since about 8 am, woke her just then to see if she is ready for medicines, since it been 8 hours and told her I made her some fresh biscuits and beans we canned. She said no I need to get some sleep first. Told her o k beep me on two way radio when ready.

I washed the porch and fed animals, cooked her some food, fixed her toasted hamburger bun, with lightly fried bologna this morning for her to take medicine she only takes a couple bites like a bird. Get food into her every chance I can. (As for me), the jury is still out on that one. Took a lot out of me or the wind out of my sail this one did.

My oncologist started me on protein shakes developed by another doctor that had cancer. You can order them from several places. My doc recommended the 20% all veg and fruit protein. I have been using them ever since, about 8 years. At least 2 a day and 3 if she can tolerate them. They go well with any medication or vitamin. I very seriously endorse these and credit them with making my surgery and recovery, easier. My oncologist recommended the veg and fruit ones because they also provide many good nutrients that the meat based ones don't. Getting these on her stomach, will help with pain relief or at least make her more comfortable.

Thank you for the concern Lois, I do like to hear what has helped others but also take all suggestions with a grain of salt, although many have helped me so I also do like to listen to those who had the experience.
A very wise mindset. We need to remember something: Our doctors have known us for a few months or years. We've been living in our bodies for much longer than that.
Ten years ago, I was at my dentist for a root canal on a front tooth. I knew which tooth was involved from the pain (after 28 root canals I know) & I pointed it out to him.
He took an X-Ray & said, "Sorry, you're mistaken; it's the one next to it; the x ray shows it."
I said, "The x-ray may show it but I know exactly which tooth is throbbing. But I'll tell you what. Start treating the one I think it is & if I'm wrong, no problem; I'll be glad to pay for both & have both done anyway, since they're all going to go bad & I'll sign a release if you want."
He started drilling the one I suggested, then he stopped & looked puzzled. He said, "Hmmmm, I can't believe...more infection is coming out of the one you suggested."
I said, "I'm not more knowledgeable than you are; I'm just very tuned in to what I feel."

Hang in there, Jake. I know you are living in a nightmare right now.

Do you suppose Marie could drink milkshakes or those protein drinks with a bit of ice cream mixed in? That would be a way to get calories and a bit of nutrition.

Thanks, Beth
I'm trying to hang on, for her mostly and show enough hard to do. Was giving her the whey protein Yvonne told her about, but she got to where she doesn't want it anymore, so I fix different foods she wants me to, or ask me to fix, but she only eats like a bird. Hard road to hold.

Jake, you are doing what you can. Are you eating? Have you visited the tractor?

Not lately, Did cut frontage with bush hog while Theresa was here watching out for her Mom, and when Dwayne was here cut back yard with it. Yes eating or making myself eat some, dropped 20 lbs since this happened with her. Not the best appetite anymore but making myself do it.

Yesterday I was telling Marie about Getty quit eating and seems to be grieving, she said well let her in so I can say something to her I haven't said anything to her in over a week. So I let her in she ran straight to her in the bedroom trying to lick her hand then went straight under her bed and stayed all day with her she started back eating that night. Foxy has been staying with her in the bedroom all day every day ever since she's been down.

"Strange", I feed them and they like me; but all of them "LOVE" her.

That made me teary eyed. Sure miss her posting. Dogs sense when a person has cancer. Hugs to all!
