I ordered a new handbag. It used to be that 'retail therapy' lifted my spirits but it doesn't seem to work as well these days. So there's a good chance I will return it when it arrives.

Crossing my fingers that it arrives before the 4th of July.
Amazing how restrictive our local government is about placing and displaying them now though. We locals need to get riled up and get the old biddy useful idiots out of local politics. Imagine! The latest restrictions were because "Some groups find the American Flag offensive." and "Flags near the street are a driving distraction and thus a safety hazard." This Red-Green Alliance has run FAR out of control.
I just finished a 45-minute walk with my new Skechers, and they seem quite comfortable, which conforms to the idea that my other comfortable walking shoes are also Skechers, so, other than for hiking in the woods, where I'll probably opt for my (also comfortable) suede boots, I'll opt for Skechers, and might even try a more expensive flavor of Skechers.View attachment 2077
In the past, even the recent past, I could wear pretty much any shoes I wanted, but lately, my skin has gotten more sensitive at the crown of my foot, just below where the laces tie, so although I can still walk on gravel in water shoes if I want to, that area hurts when I wear shoes for any length of time.
This kind of sucks because I have a bunch of walking shoes, most of which hurt now. The ones that are easiest on my feet are my suede boots and an old pair of cheap Skechers. The boots are great for walking through the woods and such, but I'd like something lighter if I'm walking on a sidewalk or along the road. My Skechers are falling apart; not literally yet, but they are threatening to.
I had to rehome several of the,. Too soft for me.I just finished a 45-minute walk with my new Skechers, and they seem quite comfortable, which conforms to the idea that my other comfortable walking shoes are also Skechers, so, other than for hiking in the woods, where I'll probably opt for my (also comfortable) suede boots, I'll opt for Skechers, and might even try a more expensive flavor of Skechers.
I think that when people think of shoes to solve problems that people have with their feet as they grow older, most people look to orthopedic shoes or others intended to address sensitivities in the soles of the feet, while I don't have that problem yet. I can walk on gravel in moccasins or water shoes.
These Skechers are slip-on shoes. They have laces, but they are more ornamental, or at least fixed to the shoe; you don't untie them to get them on or tie them to secure the shoes to your feet. That's nice too. Thanks to my recent exercising, I don't have as big a problem bending over to tie my shoes as I did a couple of years ago, but it's still nice to be able to simply slip them on. I'll probably reserve these shoes for walking on streets, sidewalks, or roads, at least for now. I still have my old pair of Skechers, as well as a third pair if I could find its mate, and I can wear them if I don't feel like wearing the boots. I have grown far less vain in my later years, but I still have a thing against wearing boots with short pants. The bar isn't very high, but if I would laugh at someone else who I saw doing that, then maybe I shouldn't do that.
