Have you played organized sports?

How many of you have played organized sports, whether at the community, school, college, or professional levels?

My experience is about as low as you can get beyond nothing, because I played two years of Little League. During that tme, I had only three hits and I don't think I ever caught a ball that wasn't on the ground. Pretty much the only way I could get on base was by walking. I've never played any sport in school, and only found out that my elementary school had a basketball team a few years ago when a local newspaper owned by someone I went to school with published a photo of one of the Mellen Township Elementary School basketball team, and one of my cousins was on the team. As it turned out, they had a baseball team too.

I was on the university sailing team my last year in college. At the championships, we finished 13th, dead last. Then another university's team was disqualified and we moved up to 12th place.

We came back to school and had one hell of a victory party.

The one thing we were known for was our parties. They were legendary.

I'm like you, Ken. I played Little League baseball one of two years. I remember standing out there daydreaming when a ground ball hopped right into my glove. "Nice stop, Brunner!" Huh?

I've never been into team sports. I played a lot of tennis as a kid and into my adult life, as well as racquetball. I played some work-related softball when I was with a joint venture between Honeywell and a French telecommunications company. The French never played baseball or softball, so we got to be known as the Party Team on the Honeywell league. While other teams were serious contenders, we'd have each week's opponent call to see if we wanted to split a keg. 👻
