The Tractor Thread

First clue for me was a big branch growing through a thick steel rear wheel. :sneaky: Then as it is removed it just rolls out and the hole disappears. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I was giving the benefit of the doubt with that since I have seen trees growing through some weird things. Of course when I go back and look again, there's no corresponding big hole in the wheel after it's cut down.

Being a syndical old ranch lady, I couldn't allow any benefit of the doubt for such a ludicrous presentation. I only watched the very first of it when I saw the rust fairies hiding on it. Sure enough, they did their poofing and :poop: started to happen. What causes rust fairies is a horse peeing on a tractor and it comes down with a UTI, urinary tractor infection. :sneaky:

Here is an almost identical set up to the International and harrow that I used to disc 80 acres twice a year,
during my teen years. It was easy to operate. A cab would have been nice, but my dad didn't believe in
such luxury add-ons when a wide flat brim straw hat would do the job.

@Jake Smith , That poor old tractor put a whole new meaning into the term rustbucket. I can’t believe it was restorable.

I watched the whole video it was mind-boggling. That took more than a day or two.😇😇

And after all that he put it out in the field to work. I’m not sure I would’ve done that..

There is an old Ford Ferguson (with steel wheels) on the Family farm that my dad parked many years ago and has a tree growing up through the middle of it. This gives me hope that maybe someday my brother and my nephew may do the same thing for it doubtful but there’s always hope.😇😇

*******

To change the subject slightly, my brother made it down from Ohio. I don’t know if he’s going to get my Ford 3000 running, as it seems the four wheelers are taking up more time than what we planned on.

My Honda rancher needs new tires on the front because they’re both dry rotted. One won’t hold air. The other one is close to not holding air. The last thing I need is to be at the very back of this property, have a tire go flat and have to walk back. It looks like the price of tires is about $115 apiece.😳😳. That’s more than they cost for my Saturn.

There is a Tire thread, but it is not geared to those of us who changed tires on the farm. It is geared to those folks who only drive cars, so I choose to stay out of it. I did change my own tires until I got too full of arthritis to do that.

Actually, when my brother got here, he brought me two gifts. One was a pound of fudge from Buc-ee’s. The other was a used, but works very well half inch drive Dewalt impact wrench. It does have a brand new battery. it goes nicely with my DeWalt lithium battery operated tire inflater

A pound of good fudge and an air impact wrench ——- I am stylin now.🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️

Yeah; Beth and Faye pointed out, that the video is AI generated; and does have lots of flaws in it; I too caught some of it, but at first thought "oh good" a tractor being restored. After watching it some, I thought, I've never seen that much rust, and still have repairable metal to restore. I'll have to start paying more attention to them; before putting one up in future. Your fathers Ferguson, may still be repairable though.

I do hope your brother helps you get your Ford 3000 running and tires on, the ones you need. Good help is hard to find these days. Fudge and impact, sounds good; I'm glad for you. :)

Interesting, but more AI. From the description on Youtube, "Disclaimer: This content showcases AI-generated restoration. Visuals and transformations are created using artificial intelligence and may not represent real-life processes."

Give away: at 2:37 in the video, the tractor is riding on the trailer and the back wheels are "rolling".

I did see those wheels rolling on the trailer, when I first watched part of it; but didn't register all the way to me, for some reason, but I will be looking harder at any other ones, before putting another up. Live and learn, "Thanks". :)

If you enjoy the video, it really doesn't matter if it's AI, Jake. Some people get fooled by them and think they are real, though.

No I did catch a lot of flaws in the AI video, but I think this one below is real, what do you think about this one?

That one must be real. The tractor was on display at a tractor show last year!

From the youtube channel: "If anyone wants to see this tractor in person it will be at the Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America Expo September 12-15 at the 62 annual Steam-O-Rama tractor show in Ash Grove MO!"

Good I found one that's real; it was beginning to frustrate me; I don't care anything about AI ones I only like the real ones. It's like news today you almost cannot find the truth. Thanks, "Beth".

@Jake Smith ,

1. The tire on the 2002 Honda wouldn’t hold air because it was dry rotted ; on the inside where I couldn’t see it. Both front tires were. I think they were the originals.

I couldn’t afford to replace the Carlisle’s. The young man’s at Gateway Tire in town suggested these Deestone Swamp Witch tires for half the price. They should have enough mud grip to function well when the paddock and the area at the main gate turn into mosh pits.

I like their logo so much, I have made it my avatar. 😂😂

2. Brother has the Ford 3000 running. He’s going to do some Bushhogging’s later today as a test run. There is some sort of filter none of us knew about that needs drained periodically. He thinks not getting drained/cleaned was a big part of the problem.

3. If you are familiar with Derek Bieri’s Vice grip Garage on YouTube, Derek is restoring a 1930-something building about an hour from me, and making it a museum. It isn’t open but brother went over anyway because he lives ten hours away and just popping in to watch its progress can’t happen.

I became a fan of Mr. Bieri’s when Motor Trend sponsored his “Roadworthy Rescues” show on Discovery. Motor Trend cancelled the show due to corporate restructuring, I think.

In the words of Collin Raye: “That’s My Story And I’m Stickin’ To It”🤠🤠

Glad about your brother getting the Ford 3000 running, he sounds like a good man. Nice "avatar" you have too. Haven't seen the Dereks videos, that I know of; but could've, and just don't remember since I watch so many different ones. Filters are important especially on diesels.

:)

Here you go, with a real deal tractor repair. I used to know the old 2 cylinder Johnny Poppers well. Fairly easy to work on.

"She runs pretty good then she just quits." I thought he was talking about me. :ROFLMAO:

"Amazing", 73 yo tractor, they made them to last for sure. Thanks, "Faye", I enjoyed the video.

When I purchased my 1950 Ferguson, the fuel tank was full of gunk, so I syphon fuel, using a fuel can to run it. :)

I had the same experience on a couple of old tractors and wanted to tell this guy that a full flush and inspection of the gas tank and line should be the first thing. I have done some nice carb cleaning jobs, just to crap it up again with rust from the gas tank. I had one that someone put milo in the gas tank. Probably some farmers wife that had enough of his tractor obsession. 🤣 I got it for $50. It was an old orange Allis Chalmers. I sold it for $250. That was around 1970.
