The long lines at airports seem to make Democrats more unlikeable

Funding for Democrats has tanked, poll numbers are cratering. In one pool I saw, Democrats are less than half as popular as Trump despite the war. Some Democrat politicians are even slipping and one from Connecticut said that the Democrats are most concerned about the "undocumented Americans" who are being deported by ICE. He actually said the Democrats are choosing illegal aliens over American citizens, which is what Republicans has been accusing them of for months.

Over 400 TSA agents have quit and more are considering that. More than half of them are calling in sick at some airports, and lines are 4 to 5 hours in some places.

I think that this might just be a way to lead into getting rid of the TSA agents altogether. They really have not ever stopped any kind of airline problem, and it sounds like we will have ICE there for the foreseeable future anyway. They can do double duty, by doing the regular chick in stuff as well as stopping illegals when they fined them at airports . Apparently, the lines are already no where near as long as before, which is telling us that the illegals were doing a lot of traveling.

They are arresting illegals attempting to travel, but ICE is not trained in the same manner as the TSA folks are, so ICE apparently is not doing the screen, but are organizing the lines and helping people who are having difficulty so that the TSA folks who would have been in those roles are dedicated to screening.

I don't really think the TSA ever had anything to do with safety per se. The organization was set up to track the movements of people, and I think they do a good job of that, but I don't think they have ever detected a bomb, explosive or dangerous device in the screening, although they have picked up a few handguns and a lot of water bottles with stuff in them, both of which are apparently frequently overlooked by the passengers and are not intended to be threats. My grandson-in-law, who is a Marine who travels a lot discovered that frozen water bottles are perfectly legal and are not picked up o screening, so he has begun carrying all his drinks in frozen form, especially on ling trips.

If you fly often though, you will notice that you really don't need tickets or boarding passes much any more. All your info is in the computer and associated with your Real ID so they can track your travel where ever you go, at least in the U.S.

When I was younger used to fly to LV alot, all I needed was an ESTA which had my passport number on it. Apply on line and at the time cost was £11 for two years, think its a bit dearer under Trump.

Long ago I thought airport security should go back to the airports control. TSA took it over but has not really kept us safe IMHO. More thefts, definitely. Why should all taxpayers pay for it when not all taxpayers fly. When they do fly, they would pay through the airports, like before.

When TSA first started, there was a LOT of theft from checked luggage. I guess the TSA agents thought they could take anything they wanted and nobody would report it if it wasn't a lot of money. I certainly had a lot of stuff stolen from my luggage then, but it now seems to have stopped. I haven't had anything stolen for years now, so I guess there is closer monitoring. When the airlines controlled security, it was just as good as TSA. Everything the 911 terrorists used was legal at the time, but the standards were lax. Nobody thought anyone would take an aircraft with a case cutter, but they were wrong. When the hijackers are prepared to die in a suicide mission, there is not an easy way to stop it.

Good news. Except for the TSA workers of course, that is sad.
