Wow, I am surprised to read that, @Kate Ellery . As far as I have seen, we are not having any of that here. The prince of oil is coming back down already, and was back to $87 a barrel last night, and our fuel prices are expected to go back down in a few weeks (at most). Nothing here has really been affected, and we are not having shortages. The war / boomings oversees …. @Beth Gallagher
Hoot - shopping does not necessarily mean buying. If this option does not appeal you have a time line to look for others and compare. Please take good notes, lots of pictures, actually measure rooms/closets, price breakdown and keep a comparison log.Good Tuesday Morning. Not sure what is on the agenda for today. I've contacted a local senior independent living facility, and I may try to take a tour of the place this afternoon. I'm not really ready to move, since I have to sell my house first, and take care of a few other things. But the idea of not having any home maintenance issues to deal with, and having someone else do the food prep and laundry, all sounds pretty good to me. I've told them I'm at least 6 months or more away.
Went grocery shopping and both supermarkets in the town where our main shopping is as well as Foodland in the other town were packed to,
the brim …..for a Tuesday …..shelves were bare in sections like long life milk ….powdered milk ….loo paper …it was like Covid all over again , I said the cashiers in Aldi and Foodland are people panic buying …..both said yes ….oh dear ….no thanks …..
we don’t want that all over again ….thank you …..
We normally do shopping on a Wednesday ( our pension day ) as we gets discounts for seniors 5% on that day …( At Foodland )
.its usually busy …but it was like a Wednesday today ….
I did buy a pack of powdered milk…but just normal shop apart from that
Our petrol has risen to $2.20 a litre …not gallon a ….Ltr ……from $1.50 last week …it’s normally cheaper in Australiaas we go into cooler months….lots of price gouging going on …as usual at any sign of issues oversees ……..you’d think many food producing factories would hsve learned from Covid ….but apprently not …..still way to much “ rubbish “ foods flooding out shores …..
And doctors are wondering why there’s so many in their 30’s with stomach cancer in Australia …..I can answer that look at what food they are eating …..as well as drinks …no one in the younger age group I know drinks water
….
To me drinking nice fresh clean water flushes the system ,….. I’ll have mine with fresh lemon juice ..thanks![]()
I have not ironed in years. I I don't know why even own it iron or boardCotton surfing aka ironing and the usual hoorah. How can two people come up with such an amount of laundry?
The war / boomings oversees …. @Beth Gallagher
That is absolutely fine. SO traded suit/tie/penny loafers for Wrangler Ranchers, Western shirts and bolos. These beasties are everything from embroidered, offset with velvet or cording to beadwork. Ironing on the inside. It is something I can do for him plus I like the sight of a well dressed man at 6:00I have not ironed in years. I I don't know why even own it iron or board
Gas went up 1.25 for regular since Friday. We moved our Amazon pantry/paper order up a month. That seems strange; nothing is different here except gasoline prices are creeping up.
I saw a statement from the CEO of Chevron that the California legislature will be adding another $1.50 a gallon gas tax. They are trying to push everyone there away from petroleum.I just filled up the other day and it was $3.79 a gallon. But we're back to the "Summer Blend", which they claim costs more to make so the price goes up in Spring and down in the Fall, when they start making the "Winter Blend" again. Just a few weeks ago gas was 50¢ cheaper.
Our gas went up a few cents, but it was already higher than most of the country even with the lowest gas tax in the nation I think.Gas went up 1.25 for regular since Friday. We moved our Amazon pantry/paper order up a month.
Just curious Don - do Alaskans still get an annual stipend? Our gas went up a few cents, but it was already higher than most of the country even with the lowest gas tax in the nation I think.
The people in the know are saying we’ve got plenty of petrol / Diesel and food , and as far as I know plenty of food , but there again people are saying food prices are going to go,sky high due to fuel costs ……,who knows ….we are just sitting back watching what’s going on we don’t get caught up in all the hype ….just did out normal shop ….and got that pack of powdered milkWow, I am surprised to read that, @Kate Ellery . Are there actual shortages there, or people are just panic buying for fear there will be shortages ? We have that happen every time there is a bad storm here, and all the shelves are bare, at least of staples like breads, milk, and eggs.
There is actually plenty of fuel, and the tankers are moving though the Strait of Hormuz again, so everything should be over with before long. President Trump is already looking ahead at dealing with Cuba, which seems to be the next thing on the list, so the whole Iran thing should be done before long.
Might that be an option?I saw a statement from the CEO of Chevron that the California legislature will be adding another $1.50 a gallon gas tax. They are trying to push everyone there away from petroleum.
