Just got home from the ER was a petunia plant sold by QVC.I think that @Tony Page was mentioning some kind of flowers that glowed in the dark, I don’t remember what kind.

That IS beautiful ! It is pretty spendy, too, almost $40 for one little plant that only lives for a few months. Thank you for sharing the link, @Tony Page .
We are looking at pulling spent summer plants out at this time of the year , not sowing new seeds till April when it usually turns cold right after Easter ..not always ~ sometimes we get what the weather man calls a Indian summer
Nah we are ahead of you @Beth Gallagher as we are going into winterYou Aussies have it all backwards, Kate!!![]()
I have planted seeds and then not recognized them and pulled them as weeds. Talk about sad commentary.Kind of a sad commentary on my life, but I found a 4" pot of curly parsley at Walmart garden center today and I was almost giddy. I love having fresh parsley growing in the kitchen window but I usually have a hard time starting it from seeds.
I also planted a row of radish seeds around my tomato plants in the tall raised bed. Then I promptly forgot about them and accidentally raked them up with my little hand rake, "just smoothing off the soil." Gah. I don't know how much I dragged those seeds around but I'm sure they are no longer in a tidy straight line.

Keep two eyes on your lemon balm and cut it back drastically before it sets seeds. Unless you want it everywhere. Lemon grass from seed will take forever. Pick some up at the local Asian grocery store and root in water.in the past I have sprayed the property for mosquitoes. I used pre-filled hose end sprayers with chemicals that are supposed to be friendly for dogs and children. I would spray twice a year and never let anybody including dogs and children go outside while the yard was still wet with spray.
I take precautions I do not spray areas where children's play or a vegetable garden things of that sort.
Last year I purchased 4 pre-filled hose end sprayer bottles, I never use them, timing never seems right, plus my daughter was worried about the children and dogs.
This year I decided to look for an alternative that would work and reduce the bombardment from these little critters.
I found a number of plants that can be planted around areas that you sit or put in pots that repel mosquitoes. Some are better than others but they all have some degree of success so I'm planning on getting the seeds, (which I've already ordered) and spreading them around.
Here is the list of seeds I ordered from Pinetree.
Marigolds
Lavender
Lemon Basil
Catnip
Lemon Balm
Lemon Grass
Citronella Geraniums
There are others like Pennyroyal, It wouldn't be good for me it's toxic. Another one which is more like a bush it's called American Beautyberry, it's supposed to be an excellent repellent for mosquitoes. Tyme is another one that's not good for me, I and my daughter are allergic to it.
I'm sure there are others but this is what I come up with and intend to spread the seeds around especially some vacant areas where they can just grow wild we'll see what happens.
Thanks for the info I'm not familiar with any of these plants except for Basil and marigolds.Keep two eyes on your lemon balm and cut it back drastically before it sets seeds.
