"Tony" Thought Journal 3.0

There is only one thread with the title “signs of the times”, and that is your thread, so you are the only one who created that thread, @Tony Page .
The way to attach someone’s name is to use the @ sign and then their name , and when you start typing the persons name, a little box should come up with the full name on it.
Just click the box, and they will get the alert that you did it. If you do not see the little box, just type the @sign and their name and it will work fine. It should look like @Name when you type it. You can see where I did that with your name in this thread.

Took my wife to the doctor yesterday she's been experiencing light-headedness and she looks pale to me my daughter said she looks jaundice. The doctor is running some blood test and we're having an brain MRI done next week. Her vitals have been good.

My daughter's been to the doctor on and off for the last 2 weeks, today they called and said she has mono.

My 10-year-old grandson sent home from school not feeling well, he been complaining for the last week. He was tested today and has Covid.

My 8-year-old granddaughter is also of home sick, she's been sick for about a week. No Covid.

I've been suffering from back pain that leads right through to my chest and shortness of breath, plus tireness. I'm not ready to go to the doctor yet if it worsens and I will have to go. I just took 3 garbage pails to the curb for tomorrow's pickup, my arms feel like lead now, I'm gonna take a nap.

Except for my one grandson we're all feeling under the weather.

I hope you and your family all feel better soon.

I was just getting ready to lay down to take a nap when I heard my daughter and wife making a little commotion.

Just before I went to nap, I asked my wife to check our checking account to see if a check we sent by mail to our insurance company was paid. The check was cashed by someone other than the insurance Co, they washed the check and put their name on it, and cashed it. Basically, they stoled the check.

We sent all afternoon on the phone with the fraud department at the bank, and getting our compromised account# changed at the bank.

We have forms to fill out yet that need to be sent to the banks fraud department. Tomorrow, we'll be spending time changing direct deposit routing# for my wife's pension.

I did try to nap, but couldn't sleep.

Oh no, Tony! That's terrible! I have a neighbor that-that has happened too, also. We use mostly autopay, but if I have to write a check for some reason, I use one of those ink pens that prevent washing. You can buy those ink pens at any store.

We have two bills we pay to this insurance company. Mine and my wife's life insurance. We usually pay the premiums on line. My wife's went through with no problem. Mine the website wouldn't accept the payment. My wife was on the phone with the insurance company for at least 2 hours trying to get the website to work. They couldn't fix the problem. They wouldn't accept payment over the phone, so we had no choice but to mail them a check.

Tomorrow we have a lot of running around to do, including filing a police report.

That is really tough @Tony Page. I think the only thing we pay by check any more is property taxes and we personally take a check over to the tax office and get a receipt as well as the cancelled check. Many of our bills are auto-pay as @Krystal Shay said, but there is a gas bill that charges a credit card fee to pay that way, so we debit that when it is due. We never use debit to auto-pay.

@Beth Gallagher
Relax, my wife has enough anxiety to go around.
I personally believe someone in the P.O., is involved. I mailed the envelope in a post box, in the parking lot of the post office. Many of our Christmas card were opened before we got them. Looked liked someone was checking inside the envelopes for gift cards, or checks.

@Don Alaska
We also never pay by check. Because we couldn't pay on line or by phone we had no choice but to use the mail and a check.
The check was for a little over $1500. It could take upto 100 days to get the money back.

Yesterday the wife and I were busy filling out the forms from the bank about our stolen check. The Forms required us to put a claim in with the post office being the check was stolen from the mail. We went to the post office where the check was stolen from the mail, all they could do was give us a phone number to call. Since we were already out and the post office is not far from the police station we visited the station to fill out a police report which took about an hour and a half.

We went back to the bank with their form and all the backup paperwork so they could fax it to there fraud department. They said it would take about a week, to give us a temporary refund?

Now we just wait.

We closed the comprised account, now we have to change all the direct depositors to the new acct#. Not fun.

I decided to switch gears and focus on the superbowl, I spent this morning ordering snacks, food, drinks, desserts for tomorrow. All is being delivered so it will make my life a little easier.

Tony this day and time we have be careful with everything. They bought airline tickets with our bank card.

last week my wife went to the doctor she was suffering from off balance and lightheadedness. our doctor prescribed an MRI. She made an appointment for this Thursday to have the MRI done. She got a text late yesterday afternoon that the authorization by our insurance company was denied.

I'm concerned because she is very pale and her lips look purplish. The light-headedness and off balance feeling has lessened but the fatigue is still there. We will be calling the doctor today to get the results of the blood test maybe that'll show something. Her coloring reminds me of a few years back she had the same appearance and it wound up she was anemic.

Today you have to be your own advocate when it comes to your health. When she got home from the doctor last week, I ask her if they took blood samples her answer was no, they weren't giving her a blood test. I called them and they sent a prescription to a local lab where I took her last Friday for a blood test.

We decided she would start eating foods with iron, in case she is anemic.

The last few weeks have been really tiresome for me. I try to take my mind off of things by gardening, doing the chat room, watching some TV. These temporary escapes are not doing the job anymore. I feel like hibernating, I guess that's running away from your issues which I never did before, I like facing them and getting them done.

When the sun comes up today I will make it wash the slate clean.

Have you checked her blood oxygen, @Tony Page ? If she is not getting enough oxygen, that might change her skin color, or even just not having good circulation, maybe due to the cold weather we have all been having.
My Apple Watch tracks my oxygen level, but you can get those little ones that clip on your finger and check it that way, too.

From what I have been reading, the iron in meat is easier for the body to absorb than the iron in plants, even if they have a lot of iron. Liver, especially, and other organ meats have a lot of iron.

I'm planning on making her steaks with lots of spinach.
I believe she has been checking her oxygen levels we have an oxymeter. I know she takes her blood pressure a few times a day.

It is interesting that in the study I am doing for the fitness tracker watches, they have me take my blood pressure twice each day, with 2 readings in the morning and 2 more at night.
I have to put on the BP cuff, then sit perfectly still for 5 minutes with my feet on the floor and sitting in a chair, not even talking.
I have to not have any caffeine for at least an hour before taking the BP reading. After the first reading, then I have to wait another minute before taking the second reading.
There is a lot more to the process to do it correctly than I knew about before.
If the readings are not within 10 points of each other, then I have to wait another minute and do a third reading. While I wait, I am supposed to practice deep breathing to help me relax.

I guess any change in your location, your movement, or tracker position gives erroneous readings from the initial readings. It would be great if the tracker could compensate for these things. I'm sure they would like to keep within a certain percentage of readings being off from one to another.

They sent me an Omron blood pressure cuff to use for taking the measurements, and it looks like a pretty good device. The fitness tracker watch does not check blood pressure, but it does track my pulse, oxygen level, and all of my activities. The cuff is $75 on Amazon, so it should be a high quality one and be pretty accurate.
The main thing is to follow the relaxing procedure before I take the readings, sit still and do the deep breathing and relax first.

We have both an arm and a wrist BP meter. We use the cuff more. We try to relax before taking bp.

My wife just got through to the Doctor, he can't understand why they deny the MRI. Her blood test showed that she was deficient in B12. She's going to be getting B12 shots for the next 3 months starting next Tuesday. I feel that's what her problem was. Looking it up online it seems to cover all her symptoms and her appearance.
