"Tony" Thought Journal 3.0

I'm a little disappointed I know I have more vegetable and flower seeds in bags somewheres but I was not able to find them. I did find a bag of tomato seeds with one packet of pepper. The pepper seeds didn't look good to me they looked really dried out and brown. I put a sample between a wet paper napkin to see if any germinate.
Looks like I'll be starting just tomato seeds for now.
I'll have to purchase the in-ground seeds like zucchini, yellow squash, radishes, and carrots. I would like to also pot Peppers, eggplants, and potatoes.
If I'm up to it I would also like to make a strawberry and an asparagus bed.

All my life living in Brooklyn tomato sauce was called "gravy."

I remember walking home for lunch from elementary school with my brother, my mom would would have a stack of white "wonder" bread sandwiches ready for us. Usually it was Balony, American Cheese, or Cream cheese and Jelly. However, there was one special sandwich we craved, it was Eggs and/with Gravy. Basically it was scrambled eggs with tomato sauce mixed in, just delicious. I tried duplicating it, I get close, but not as good as my mom's.

I looked up the term "gravy" for tomato sauce on line here's what I got. It's not 100% how I remember the use, but it's close.

Tomato sauce is called "gravy" in parts of Brooklyn and Italian-American culture because early immigrants, wanting to sound more American and describe their rich, meat-infused Sunday sauce (ragù), adopted the English term for a hearty, meat-based sauce, differentiating it from simple weekday sugo (sauce). This "Sunday Gravy" was a special, slow-cooked dish with meats like sausage and meatballs, and the term became a point of cultural identity reflecting family roots and assimilation.

I have been procrastinating to clean out my car, I had until the end of the month to get another car because the inspection is due. It's time to start cleaning it out now because I purchased my grandsons car today.

for the last 15 years, I've averaged less than 5,000 miles per year. For the last 2 years, it has been less than 3500 miles per year. I do local driving only.

The car is in my driveway. Tomorrow, I'll start transferring stuff from car to car. Tuesday, we'll get to the DMV and register it.

I feel relieved it is one less issue I have to worry about.

I never like learning about Englist. I didn't care what the proper punctuation was or goes. Yet I enjoy reading, and occasionally writing a poem. I apologize upfront for any punctuation or grammar errors. Last night in the early morning hours, a poem pop in my head, so I wrote it

Winter

I never cared for the winter
Because of the weather
Outside it's 20 degrees
Feels like nine what a freeze
Stay inside under a warm throw
Watch TV it's the only way to go
Hot cocoa and popcorn at my side
What show to watch I have to decide
I sit comfortable in my favorite chair
Although inside, there's a chill in the air
I pulled my throw higher up to my neck
My dog is crying I have to check
I see her she's over by the door
She wants to go outside should I ignore?
I get out from the cover Brrr what a chill
She runs to her spot, the cold air my lungs it does fill
I wait by the door She comes quickly back
Back to my chair I make track
I cuddle the throw like never before
My dog at my feet she sleeps on the floor
Cocoa and popcorn are now cold
I hate the cold must be getting old
The TV is blaring
I sit there starring
Next thing I know
It's starting to snow
I'm so comfortable now the drowsiness puts me to sleep
A loud noise causes me to leap
A sound from the TV caused my fright
The room was now bright from daylight
I think another day closer to the start of spring
When the trees, shrubs, and flowers do their thing.
I know it's coming I can't wait
The warmth of spring will feel great

This morning, my wife and I went to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to register my car that I purchased from my grandson and get plates. We printed out all the forms and had them all filled out based on what the DMV site said was required. We made an appointment for 9:00 this morning, and you no longer go in and wait online. When you get there, they scan your appointment paperwork, you get a number, and you sit down till it's called. By the time we walked from check-in teller to the chairs to sit down our number was called and we went to that window it took about 15 minutes fortunately we had no errors or missing paperwork we got out of there in good time.

When we got home, I put the plates on the car while my wife put the stickers on the windshield. It's all ready to go now.

I'm glad I got it done because I'm really starting to feel lousy. I have a pain in my right side that's been there about a week. I feel completely exhausted . If I close my eyes, I'll just fall asleep. My thigh muscles feel like they are pulled they ache like crazy. I've had another pain for a few months that goes from my left Wing in my back, through to the front, takes my breath away. When I first got it, I thought I was having a heart attack. I'm starting to feel like a hypochondriac, I think it's just being overwhelmed with too much at one time.

My wife went with my daughter shopping at home goods. I was supposed to go to the grocery store this afternoon, but with the way I feel right now, I don't have anything left. I'm going to take a nap.

Oh my, Tony. It sounds like you may have those muscle spasms/cramps like I have in my torso and across my back. For some reason a lot of cancer survivors have them and you are right, they absolutely take your breath away. You are NOT a hypochondriac. Your body has been through a lot and it takes years to recover.

I'm glad you got the car situation squared away and I hope the car has a good heater!!

I woke up from a nap about 1hour ago. I went "out like a light."
My wife and daughter returned from shopping, I let them know I was under the weather. I was so cold when I first woke up my insides were shaking, my wife made me some hot chicken soup. Soup helped.

Car does have a nice heater has a seat warmer steering wheel warmer passenger side warmer it's got so many bells and whistles I don't know how to use half of them. The first thing I learned how to do was hook up my phone to the radio with Bluetooth I gotta have my music.
Tomorrow I'll be using it for the longer Drive then just around the block I have to take my wife back to msk for her checkup.

This morning, I drove my wife to see her new oncologist. The hospital (MSK) changed her doctor, the new doctor is from Greece and a young fella. This will probably be her last appointment with him he told her she's going into a survival group and will be appointed an NP. If there are negative changes to any of her tests, he will be back handling her case.

Her appointment took about an hour. I stayed in my new car, trying to familiarize myself with all the features. I did connect the Bluetooth to my phone. I figured out how to put the heat on, adjust the speakers sound, how to open the center console, and a few other things. During my touching the main screen and knobs I must have done something because the screen for the speedometer went from miles per hour to kilometers per hour. I'll have to figure out out to change it back.

Do you have the owner's manual for the car, Tony? If not, most of them are online PDF files nowadays and can be found on the manufacturer's website. I like the online versions because I can enlarge the font to read them easier.

I'm glad your wife got a good report and has moved on to "survivorship." It is a little scary at first but also a relief to not have to go to the oncologist as frequently.

Tony I'm sorry this is going on with you. I sure hope things get better and really fast for you.
Seems like there is something in the air at times, this week hasn't been a good one for me, I feel tired and nauseous at times.

Yes I do have the owner's manual I'll have to research it.
My wife is relieved especially when he told her that there's been no change to a nodule she has on her lung. And that it's considered non-cancerous.

Marie,
Maybe you should take the day off you might be working too hard.
I pray that you start feeling better I don't like hearing you don't feel good. I wish I could help the only thing I can think of with me when I feel that way I change my diet a little.
Feel better,
Tony

Tony, I agree, diet has lots to do with how we feel, I am working on changing my diet.
Also I need to get back to walking, being closed in is not good.

The local news claims that the area where I live got 11 inches of snowfall. It's hard to tell with the drifts, but it doesn't appear to be quite that deep to me.

My son-in-law dug out my daughter's car, and so we have one car if we need one. Hopefully, he'll get to my car today. We're in separate driveways. I don't expect much melt they say the temperatures are going to be below freezing for the next 10 days or so.

This is the second day we'll be stuck in the house, so I took advantage. I have been in lounge ware for two days, and it feels good. I relaxed and watched two football games yesterday. When I wasn't watching football, I caught up on watching Tulsa King. I'm into the 3rd and last season with four episodes to go.

Prior to the snowstorm hitting, we had come up with a plan for what we would do if we lost power. Fortunately, we did not see the heavy gust of wind they predicted and did not lose power. It did make us think that maybe we should look into some alternate forms of energy like solar power or solar generator.

I'm usually not the type to sit around for long, but this sure has been great. The lounging part is excellent. I said to my my wife I could do this forever, but I know "I'll have ants in my pants" and no pest spray.😊

I'm still kicking.
We got snowed in, the driveway been shoveled thanks to my son-in-law, I still need to get some snow off the car. This cold snap is one of the coldest I can remember temps Down to 3°, and feel like temps to -5°.

I spent 2 days in loungeware. It felt good, just puttering around. I spent time getting my seeds starting stuff together, what I couldn't find I ordered. This morning I setup on the kitchen table, I planted 70 pot, 10 pots of coleus, 4 of eggplant, 4 big mac strawberries, the rest are tomatoes, cherry to giants. I have both indeterminate and determinate tomatoes varieties.

We have forced hot air heat/ac with mosts of the vents on the floor. Yesterday I was adusting the vents to balance out the heat. The vent in the laundry room was behind a clothes basket. I lean over to check out the vent opening when I saw a can of Ajax laying across the vent. It must have falling off a storage shelf next to the vent. I got my grabber to pick it up, I tilted it enough so that Ajax cleaning powder came out onto the vent. The heat was running so the vent had air blowing up, when the powder hit the air it created a dust cloud. I inhaled the powder through my mouth and nose. I immediately wash my face, rinsed my mouth. I checked online they said to contact poison control if you inhaled a large dose. I felt I didn't have a large doses, so I just kept rinsing and flushing it out. My throat was irritated, but not my chest. I drank some milk, today I have no irritation. It always amazes me how accidents can happen.

I never figure out how to grab a members name so you can put it in a post to get his/hers attention.

I haven't been on SOC lately because I goofed. Maybe I'm getting to old for it. My memory is not so good I remember my childhood better than what happened last week. Anyway I found some really funny signs and I wanted to post them. I couldn't find a tread so I created one. About a week ago I went on a prior chat room, and was surfing around I realize the tread for signs had the same title. I accidentally used the same title Joe Riley used. I know it was unintentional but it bothered me. and still does. Joe if your reading this I apologize. This may sound miner but I don't work that way. I thought somebody could change the creator from me to Joe. The name of the tread is "Signs Of The Times.

The way I see it, is every week has good and bad you just have to hope that the good outweighs the bad.
