Yahoo Inc. reportedly spied on millions of users of its popular webmail service, scanning users’ incoming emails at the behest of United States intelligence agencies. According to the report, Yahoo scanned all messages arriving via Yahoo Mail for any that contained particular sets of characters or search terms.

Yahoo Inc last year secretly built a custom software program to search all of its customers' incoming emails for specific information provided by U.S. intelligence officials, according to people familiar with the matter.

The company complied with a classified U.S. government directive, scanning hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail accounts at the behest of the National Security Agency or FBI, said two former employees and a third person apprised of the events.

I have read the revelation of Yahoo that their database was compromised in 2014 yet. I think the number of email accounts was more than 500 million so now Yahoo is advising the users to change their password. It may be a coincidence but my husband was having a problem with one of his Yahoo accounts. He complained to me last night that it seems that he couldn't access one of his old Yahoo accounts. He uses those accounts for promoting something. He has 10 of those old accounts but only 1 couldn't be accessed.

It was strange that the news did not mention details of the hacking.

Yes, I saw that. I know this type of thing bothers you, Ken. It doesn't thrill me but I'm not worried either.

They can read all my emails, nothing in any of them. Well, nothing that they're interested in anyway.....just some juicy gossip on occasion. :)

Well, I would hope so. Otherwise it's nothing but boring crap.
