I think there is a lot of truth in that. It would explain why some people keep marrying the wrong kind of person over and over. For instance, why some women marry alcoholics. They may pretend to themselves that there are other things that attract them but, underneath, the attraction is because they are alcoholics. They think they can change them but, subconsciously, they don't want to change them. Their husband's alcoholism fills some kind of need in them.
I think that the video representation of why our partners drive us mad is nonsense and not a true account of peoples relationships.
I wouldn't let anyone "drive me mad!" I'd leave way before then. But to me it's only normal that two people with two different personalities coming together as one...will have some crazy days together sometimes!
A lot to be said about opposites getting together. -Wife was born and raised on a farm and a farm to me is a place called Pepperidge that make a great cookie. -when we met, she was a huge LA Laker fan and I wore Boston Celtics gear. ( huge rivals back then ) -She likes soft rock and hates Jazz and of course I go with Jazz and weird rock. -She thinks Monty Pyton is junk and I pretty much know every line in their movies. -I like to sail and she's a power boat person. -I mainly vote Republican and she is a very, very strong Liberal Democrat. People who get to know us comment on how totally different we are. What they don't know is how well we really get along and how we can sense what the other is feeling or thinking and unknowing adjust things. Works so far. No major dust ups. Now we just need to finish this 'thing' out to the end.
