Vandals in San Francisco, California, toppled a statue of Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th president of the U.S. who led the Union Army during the Civil War, among other monuments at Golden Gate Park on Friday. Video footage and images shared on social media showed the statue of Grant being torn down on Juneteenth, which celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the U.S. Nearly 400 protesters were reported at the scene around 8:30 p.m. local time, according to police, who did not engage with the demonstrators. Frederick Douglass eulogized Grant “a man too broad for prejudice, too humane to despise the humblest, too great to be small at any point. In him the Negro found a protector, the Indian a friend, a vanquished foe a brother, an imperiled nation a savior.” He was a “slave owner” in that he was gifted a slave, hated the idea, and freed him within a year. Then won the Civil War, prosecuted the KKK, and appointed African Americans to prominent roles in government. This might have gotten out of hand.
This vandalized statue... ...is Matthias Baldwin, an abolitionist out of Philly. Just an ignorant mob who really knows nothing, with others pulling their strings. We all have common cause in our society and in our institutions. This stuff is meant to keep the divisiveness going in an effort to prevent uniting over those causes. We cannot allow these people to drive our relationships or our world views. We cannot allow politicians to drive our relationships or our world views. They do not speak for us.
Not that I care if they destroyed a statue of Grant. He and his army committed horrible war crimes on the people of the Confederacy, It's just that it seems so senseless to destroy a statue of someone who should be a hero to the black people.
Destroying a statue of Grant angers me and makes no sense. Who next--Lincoln? Grant's Tomb in NYC was visited by me as a Cub Scout from New Jersey in 1943. I have always admired Grant and his accomplishments.
The vandals are just a bunch of idiots who like to break things. With all that's going on in terms of race, they use that as cover to behave like the fools that they are.
Another sad thing is that Popular Mechanics magazine put out instructions on how to topple said statues and monuments under the premise of not getting hurt whilst doing it.

What's frightening is that there are those who like the revised version of history and are fine with what's going on. If the lies prevent things from being resolved (because it's always a false problem being chased), then all the better. More strife = more control. More strife = more dollars in the pockets of The Corrupt. One class of innocent people suffer while another class who are blameless are excoriated...just as planned.
In the line of defaced statues, some of those good folks from BLM decided that Arnold Schwarzenegger’s statue in Columbus, Ohio needed a paint job. The hands were painted red and in big bold letters located on the pavement are the words, “Blood on your hands”. I tried to think what happened to bring the bodybuilder and past governor of California under such scrutiny by the BLM people and found a little tidbit of information that Might have led to the damage done to the statue. It would seem that another criminal, but this time, a murderer was promoted to near deity whilst awaiting execution in California. “Tookie” was the nickname of Stanley Williams, a founder of the Los Angeles Crips who was convicted of murdering 4 people in cold blood using a sawed off shotgun during 2 separate robberies. If for no other reason than to give these young ones something better to do, it is time to re-enact the military draft program. If a young man or woman decides to do something stupid, the Army or Marines is their next home.
