Lisa and I spent a month touring South Vietnam and Cambodia in January/February this year, using planes, trains, buses and taxis. We found both countries fascinating especially Cambodia and its Angkor Wat ancient site in Siem Reap here are a few of the many hundreds of photo's we took. These are of Saigon, the famous Post Office and a railroad that runs through the town. A couple of restaurants we went to they had small streams and waterfalls running through them, very atmospheric at night
Some more around Dalat Train Station and some other miscellaneous ones. Lisa caught in a wave in Nha Trang
Thanks for posting the photos. This thread looks like a travelogue. I haven't been to Cambodia although we have plans for a trip to Siem Reap next year to see Angkor Wat. We were in Vietnam last September and the only photo I recognize is that of the post office. We had been there on our first day (we arrived at night). And perhaps you have noticed the pictorials around the nearby cathedral, mostly pre-nuptial pictorials for the wedding. We did not avail of the Mekong Delta tour because it seemed expensive and we are not water people. All we did in Vietnam was walk and walk until our feet surrendered. Thanks again for the pics, I truly enjoyed looking at them.
I have just got around to sorting out the photos of the Cambodian part of our vacation to Vietnam in January/February this year. We spent 5 days in Siem Reap exploring Angkor Wat and the surrounding area which has lots of smaller temples. Our driver who took us everywhere in his autorickshaw and waited patiently while we went exploring Taking a nap while waiting Angkor Wat and it's monkeys
Fantastic Photos, Terry....you live a colorful life, how lucky you are! I like your driver's solution for a snooze.
I do everything too quickly. too bad though, I like elephants better than monkeys. I have quite an elephant collection and even some jewelry.
I don't know about that, monkeys scare me if they jump on my head or something. I've been up close to a few elephants and actually touched them, they seem pretty tame, but this is at a place called "Wild Things" or something like that near my daughter's house. It's a place where all the old animals that have been used in TV and some movies go after they get too old. They have tours. http://www.wildthingsinc.com/html/-welcome_to_our_jungle-.html
Great photos you have there. It's so nice looking at them, it gives me a feeling that I am there particularly in Cambodia. It looks like the monkeys are loose but not really wild because of the several pictures you took of them. And I believe that guy in white top and khaki shorts is an associate of Indiana Jones. We have plans of going to Cambodia next year, Siem Reap in particular to check on Angkor Wat. I'm sure that would be a satisfying trip for our camera.
This is one of the smaller temple areas where the trees have grown into the masonry and created a strange mix where nature is slowly reclaiming grounds. It's a very peaceful area and we returned one evening when it was deserted and found it serene and how you would imagine paradise to be.
