http://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/national-cereal-day-march-7/ A Little Cereal History: ** Ferdinand Schumacher, a German immigrant, began the cereal revolution in 1854 with a hand oats grinder in the back room of a small store in Akron, Ohio. His German Mills American Oatmeal Company was the nation’s first commercial oatmeal manufacturer. In 1877, Schumacher adopted the Quaker symbol, the first registered trademark for a breakfast cereal. What are your favorite cereals and toppings?
Not a big cereal eater even as a child. Guess I would have to say Raisin Bran. I also like to grab a handful of cinnamon toast crunch when at my daughter's house. Might be my hatred of milk that stopped me from eating cereal as a child.
I only see a couple on Lara's wall that I'll eat ... ones like Cheerios, Kix and I like Shredded Wheat too - none with sugar coating. I like super crunchy cereal. I buy Kashi brands most often. Toppings? ... bananas or strawberries cut up work for me.
Do not like fruit on my cereal either. When I do eat cereal now, it's a healthy one and I eat it with almond milk but even with almond milk just enough to moisten it.
If I was going to fall completely off the wagon and wanted nothing but sugar, carbs, and processed GMOs, then I would eat a whole box of "Honey Bunches of Oats"…and then I'd have to kill myself…unless it killed me first
I rarely eat cold cereal these days. There was a limited edition pumpkin spice shredded wheat recently that I liked... but I highly prefer my oatmeal and/or brown sugar cream of wheat to the cold stuff. If you'd twist my arm to choose one, I'd probably go with Lucky Charms. They're magically delicious, ya know.
Not a cold cereal eater myself, but maybe once a year I like a little Special K, with as little milk as possible.
Happy National Cereal Day! I love Trix cereal for it's infused with vitamins and going natural too! I like cereal and now that more companies are using less sugar and making dry cereal more nutritious it's great! I love the vitamin infused cereals!
Oh, I somehow missed this thread! I'm not a big cereal-eater- mainly because I'm always running out of milk. My current supply, though, is average for what I usually have here: Froot Loops Lucky Charms Pops (known in the olden days as Sugar Pops) and Peaches & Cream oatmeal.
I love Post Great Grains with crunchy pecans and I like that one with raisins and dates too. I pour somr original Almond milk in and sometimes even had a few slices of banana and I have a great breakfast. Sometimes I will also have a bowl for supper.
I really like a bowl of Post Great Grains with crunchy pecans or the one with raisins and dates with some original Almond milk added to it. Sometimes I will even add a few banana slices to it. This makes a great breakfast and I will sometimes have this for xupper too.
Well, I did my part. I think it was shredded wheat. Cold cereal is my favorite no fuss, no muss breakfast. I like to have several types around though, as having the same cereal every day until the box is empty gets boring. It would be interesting to find who named this National Cereal Day? Do you think the cereal companies had something to do with it??? Me thinks so. I would be surprised if they didn't.
