In Life we have to roll with the punches. We have to bounce Back. Maybe it would be easier if we were made of foam rubber instead of flesh and blood! I don't know if any of your found that funny or even ironic. Years ago a dear friend of mine gave me a card that had to this saying on it along with a cartoon illustation. I thought it was so true and i never forgot those words.
On the days when it is hard to bounce back, I put on some good jazz and get a good hot cup of tea, find the sun and just let the sun warm my body which makes me happy.
And what do you do when the sun is behind the clouds? :/ I find it really hard to relax on those rainy days, and sadly, where I live, we have plenty of those.
Now in the Oxford English Dictionary: bouncebackability: (Especially in sport) the capacity to recover quickly from a setback.
That word might apply especially to sport but as this discussion shows it is just as applicable to dealing with the sudden blows which can throw us off course in life. It takes some of us longer to bounce back than others, and sometimes it depends on how hard you have been hit. It could be a financial blow, a health issue that knocks the stuffing out of you, an unexpected bereavement or a big disappointment when you were sure of a success that never happened.
'Bouncebackability' is reputed to have been coined by Iain Dowie, who was manager of the London football club Crystal Palace at the time. I couldn't tell you how many football managers have created neologisms, but they do tend to speak a language all of their own.
Here's an article I enjoyed reading. Rolling With the Punches, at Any Stage of Life http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/21/your-money/learning-to-get-along-as-life-inevitably-changes.html "What is important to remember is that it is the fear of change rather than the reality of change that is the real culprit. As the French philosopher Michel de Montaigne noted, “My life has been filled with terrible misfortune, most of which never happened.”
