About an hour ago, as I was going through conversations and threads here, I started having trouble reading the screen. It was as if there were three or four rows of wavy lines moving from the center of the screen, upwards and to the right. This is similar to what some people get with a migraine, I think, except that I didn't have a headache at all. Since I've never had a migraine, I don't have a lot more to compare it with. I tried eyedrops but, while they made my eyes feel better, as they always do, they didn't do anything for the visual artifact. This lasted about forty or forty-five minutes, during which time I gave up trying to read the computer screen and went for a walk. When I returned, everything was back to normal.
I've hear of that, Ken, but I can't remember what causes it or the treatment. Bing it and see what you can find out. I think you will have to see your eye doctor.
I already had an appointment to see an eye doctor, not for this, but because I have to renew my driver's license in August and want to make sure I can pass the eye exam. It's either that or memorize the letters.
I suggest you call your eye doctor, tell him exactly what you wrote here, Ken and see what he would like to do about it.
@Ken Anderson ...for years I have silent miagrane headaches. I call it Light Show. Neon colored lights - differnt sizes and shapes that affect my vision. They come and go. Longest one was 20-25 mintues. I saw neurologist about this years ago. Can be aggravating but no pain. Still you should have checked out to rule out detachted retina.
I occasionally see in a small area of vision a kind of kaleidoscope effect which goes away in 5 or 10 minutes. My eye doctor said it has something to do with the brain and not eyes. Old age doesn't come alone.
Did you check your blood pressure during the incident? I guess as a PM you already know the symptoms of an upcoming stroke but blurred and / or double vision often accompany the symptoms.
Yeah, no other symptoms. I worried about that for a few moments but no, I don't think so. My blood pressure has been lower than usual since I've been dieting, and I just had my annual physical a few days ago. I'm leaning toward an ocular migraine although I have never had a migraine before.
My appointment with the eye doctor has been canceled, as they are closed until further notice. When they reopen, there will be a backlog of appointment so I am hoping I can get in before August, when I have to renew my driver's license. I have tried another eye clinic but they are closed, too.
For the "floater" in my right eye, I'm going to buy a Vitamin C Supplement. Like Ken, we won't be able to see an eye doctor for exam for awhile. The "floater" doesn't bother me as much as it did when it first showed up.
I haven't had any problems since the day I started this thread but I do think I'll need a new prescription before I renew my DL in August. I'd hate to fail the eye exam.
Ken, we here in NC can renew our driver's license one time on line. I did mine and my BIL's. Does Maine have that available? Even if they don't now, they might do it because of the Covid-19 virus.
