I once had attended a gathering where the speaker talked about steaming. He said that steamed food is healthy because the nutrients are preserved somehow. Take for instance chicken, broiled or grilled chicken loses its freshness although it also sheds off the fats while fried chicken meat is not that good and you already know that. With steamed chicken meat, you can eat a pound with no problem.

Since our dogs are not fed dog food anymore, their daily menu is steamed fish or steamed meat - chicken or pork. Beef cannot be steamed because you need a pressure cooker to tenderize it.

If you have no steamer, boiling can be a good substitute. But now I make use of the microwave for brief steaming of fish dishes.
