Odd question I know, but bear with me. If on a web-group one is banned, can that person create a new idenity , from the same location, and continue to read/participate on that forum ? Under a new idenity ? Or would that person's web addy/url be noted by the site as the same user. And as such be blocked ?
Um I am curious as to why you ask that? Do you mean here are from another site? Ken is best person to answer taht.
The admin of the website can track the IP address of the banned person, so their "new" identity is usually disabled. Of course it depends on the website and whether the admin is proactive.
If there is reason to be suspicious, I can probably track it down. There are other ways, but I don't enjoy being a sleuth. I don't generally try too hard because, to be blunt, if there's no reason to be suspicious, that suggests that they're not causing any problems. Then again, if they didn't plan on causing problems, it might be simpler to just ask me to unban them. I have no interest in banning someone who isn't going to cause problems. I know of at least one person who snuck back in under another name and has become a valuable member of the forum. Usually, they'll repeat whatever it was that got them banned the first time, though.
No, not here. On another forum a person 'disappeared', some said they were insulted , others said they were banned , and is said to be back uder a new user name.
Was this that "other" senior's forum? Why would anyone go to all that trouble there? It would be like breaking in to jail.
