I had a built in shower seat in the home I sold but there is no seat in my apartment shower and the seat in this picture sure helps these aching joints & bones.
That is one of those chairs that raise the toilet seat for people who have trouble using a regular toilet. They make shower seats with a real seat on them, and then you would not have to use the toilet seat for both the toilet and the shower.
Yeah, the last thing I want is a shower seat with wheels. I was trying to lead Lon into explaining what he actually uses that chair for but I guess he shied away from that.
Wrong Yvonne---This particular chair is for the shower. It keeps your butt from sitting in a puddle of water. The wheels don't slip or slide.
Lon, the water in the shower would have to come up pretty high to hit the butt. If that happens, something is definitely wrong with the draining system.
Looks like it is called a shower/commode chair, @Lon Tanner , and can be used for either purpose. I have had a shower chair before , and mine was only for the shower, and it had a bench seat as opposed to the commode/shower chair like yours is. Here is a picture of one similar to yours, and showing the container for when it is used as a commode.
The one difference between the two is that Lon’s doesn’t have the back-lower crossbar. That tells me that it can be wheeled in to the bathroom and backed over the commode. At any rate, if it gets used in a shower, I can’t imagine it being used in anything except a shower stall and not a tub. Also, I see that the wheels all have brakes which generally cannot be implemented by a handicapped person. They have to be put into place by a caretaker. And just as a mention, if I’m going to take a shower, my butt had best be getting wet.....and scrubbed with lotsa soap too. If there’s one thing worse than having a wrinkled butt it has to be a dirty wrinkled butt. Note: Both seats could be a Super bowl fanatic’s dream come true. Throw a TV tray in front and a couple of drink holders on the side and you have the perfect football chair.
