It seems the longest-serving Democrat, Francis Thompson, in the Louisiana state legislature has switched parties, giving Republicans in a supermajority for the first time in in the state's 210-year history. This gives Republicans the power to override a veto by the state's Democratic governor, John Bel Edwards.
