Oh yes our miniature Labradoodle, and our even smaller Chihuahua ...really do believe they are bigger and stronger and more scary than our big dogs...... they fear nothing ( well except for the chihuahua , she fears the cold)..lol My Old German shepherd (now passed) would have stood up to any large dog... but if a little dog approached him, he was totally confused and he would back away from it...wondering what the heck it it was...
A chicken named Folger We had a Roun duck hen that laid a clutch of eggs in a bush at the back of the house. My smart-alec son decided to slip a fertile chicken egg under her to see what would happen. Three weeks later, he peered into the bush to find a baby chick standing on the duck's back. We did not want the duck to leave the nest yet (duck eggs require 28-30 days to hatch) and abandon the rest of the eggs so we decided to remove the chick and hand-raise it. The only real problem is that day-old chicks can not regulate their body temperature very well, so they have to be kept fairly warm. We rigged up a nest in a cardboard box in the house and I cut the ends out of a Folgers coffee can, wrapped it with a heating pad, and placed the chick inside on a folded washcloth. Chicks need company, so we also put a wind-up clock inside the box along with food and water. Of course, I took Folger out every afternoon when I came home from work and he imprinted on me, becoming my best buddy for a while. Later, when he was bigger, and growing feathers, I put him out with the rest of the chickens so he could learn to be a chicken.
