Some time ago, Yvonne had kindly written a procedure for downloading some interesting songs and film clips from YouTube to import to our Forum, which worked fine for awhile, then for some reason PASTE no longer appeared on the drop-down box. How can I get PASTE to return? Thanks, Hal
What do you mean "Paste is gone"? Where are you expecting to see it? When I right-click, the word is always there in the drop-down box, whether or not there's actually data to Paste. I always see the following: There is nothing saved for me to paste, yet "Paste" is still there.
you need COPY, and after you copy, you will be able to paste. You cannot paste anything that you have not first copied.
Hey Yvonne... Here's How I Do It: I go to YouTube and select the video I want to import. When it starts playing, I click on SHARE below the picture. A pop-up box appears with COPY in it, and I click on COPY. I then go to the SeniorsOnyClub and right-click on the reply box in my target post. The drop-down box opens, but there's no PASTE on it. Hal
On my iPad, I can copy by using the command “cmd C”, and paste with the command “cmdV” keys. Maybe that would work , or your keyboard has something similar that you can do ? It looks like the last time that you lost “paste”, you called the Geek Squad, and they were able to fix it for you with no problem. Maybe the same thing happened again, and it should still be covered with your service warranty. Here is what you posted a year or so ago when the same thing happened to your computer.
@Hal Pollner Next time use the keyboard shortcut of CTRL +V to paste your link. In case you don't know (not trying to be condescending) press the letter V while holding down the CTRL key. Don't try to time hitting them at the same time...just hold down CTRL (like the Shift key, it does nothing by itself) and simultaneously press V. You might want to practice in a Word document. I cannot understand how a standard option can disappear from your drop-down box. I've been trying to figure out how to do that and cannot, without going deep into parts of the operating system that should not be touched.
LOL!! The moment I posted that comment, I had the exact same thought. I really should have deleted it. I really should just keep my nose out of it.
Hello, Yvonne, This is the card I made from your instructions on importing videos from YouTube to the SOC Forum. It worked fine for a few transfers, then quit showing me PASTE on the drop-down menu. ?
That was actually from @Beth Gallagher , I believe, since she has an actual computer, and can discuss things like right mouse click. I only have an iPad, so no such thing is required to use an iPad. Did you try using the control C and control V keys to copy and paste. @Hal Pollner ? That is about all that I ever do with the iPad and it works just fine.
