When I woke up yesterday, I had no thoughts of puppies or kitties. It was just a day to go out and do some puttering around, pay some bills, and just enjoy our first truly decent Autumn day. But, I’m sure you’ve had such days. After doing so for about two hour, my grandson, Bobert, and I headed home, Just when I was about to turn into my driveway, I decided I felt like celebrating something/anything. I asked myself what would be something Bobert and I could enjoy together. When Bobert made the decision to move in with me so that I didn’t have to leave the home I have lived in for more than 30 years, he did bring is chihuahua Taco, but he felt that it was best to leave his old kitty with is parents where he was comfortable. His kitty died a few months ago. Without giving either of us time to discuss the matter, I found my self driving straight to the County Animal Control and Rescue Center. And guess who we met? Everyone, meet the newest member of our family, Riji. He’s two months old.
Bobert’s name is Robert Joseph, and I am Ina Irene. And yes, The Irene cane from the song, “Goodnight Irene”, which came out in 1951. Being born in December of that year, meant I barely made it. To remember my age in any given year, I have to count from the year 1952. I didn’t use Michael’s name because it invokes to many memories, and I’m really trying to build a mental life that doesn’t entail reminding myself of what I can’t have, no matter how my minds craves it. Both Michael's middle were Joseph.
My grandson, Bobert, sounds like he is saying Ri-gee when he calls the kitten. Do you remember Zsa Zsa Gabor? Well I say our kitties name like, Ri with a short i, and I say the ji like Zshi with long e. So to me it sounds like Rizshi. I hope that make some kind of sense.
