Good evening to all- I'm a retired public school teacher- I worked in Arkansas, Missouri, and Alabama for 37 years. Now I'm an outdoor writer/photographer for several regional and national fishing magazines. My wife and I and our daughter live in a small town in southernmost Alabama- about 20 miles from the Gulf. This Corona virus isolation has been very hard on me- I can't go fishing as often and in as many places as I would like. I look forward to reading your posts and ideas. good evening to all- Ed
Bobby and I live in northern Alabama, in Huntsville, so welcome to the Alabama Seniors on the forum, @Ed Marsh ! We have good fishing areas up here, but we haven’t been fishing is several years, although we still have the fishing tackle and every year, we talk about going fishing. If you are a writer for outdoor/sporting/fishing magazines, I am guessing that you have heard of the legendary Pat McManus , from Sandpoint , Idaho ? I also grew up in Sandpoint, although several years younger than Pat; but I rode horseback all over the mountains and countryside near there , and knew just about where every place that he wrote about, was st. I have not read all of Pat’s books, but i have thoroughly enjoyed every single one that I have read !
Welcome from Virginia, Ed. I've fished off & on throughout my life, mostly freshwater ponds, lakes & rivers. Sounds like a nice life, combining an avocation with a vocation...it likely makes you more "mindful" when fishing than the rest of us who "just do." I hope you share whatever of your work you are able to.
Welcome Ed. We have a nice little lake just behind our house but don't fish as much as I'd like to. It does have some big fish, I caught a 7 pound largemouth and a friend caught a similar size one recently.
Your screen name on this forum of course does not necessarily have to be your real name, but it would be interesting to know your pen name when you write. May get to read a piece some day. Welcome.
Good morning to all- Sheldon- How very interesting that you live in Clarksville. My first teaching assignment was at Ozark High School, and my wife was an RN at the old Clarksville hospital. I know your home region pretty well. Ed Wilson- if you read Florida Sportsman magazine you'll probably see some of my work. I write for them quite a bit. My most recent book is Kayak Fishing the Northern Gulf Coast. I do work for several outdoor magazines from time to time. good day to all- Ed
Hi Ed from up in Wisconsin. I have a small pond on my place, just bluegills and bullheads. (and muskrats! ) You Don't have to worry. Fish don't get corona virus. ; ) My daughter and I partake of wild foods (weeds) and participate in an Audubon Society wild foods dinner every September but can't this year; it's cancelled because of the virus. One would think that we outdoors people would not have to be isolated as we are already socially distanced. Hang in there.
Welcome from northern Colorado, Ed. I'm an amateur photographer. When I can, I take Colorado mountain wildlife photos, farm/ranch photos and rodeo action photos.
