Visiting SIL, my wife and I went to local theater yesterday to see the movie. SIL had seen it before where she lives, liked it, but is more into religious music than Elvis type. Wife and I thought the movie was great and, without a doubt, Tom Hanks and/or Austin Butler should be nominated and win an Oscar for their performances. Not a single "F" word in the movie, that I heard anyway, but the "Lord's name in vain" was stated a few times. Like a movie we seen in 2003, Michael Douglas's It Runs In The Family, it appears only seniors will see this Elvis movie. When the movie It Runs In The Family let out at the theater, all we seen leaving was seniors. Sat in nice reclining chairs in an IMAX theater to see Elvis.
Here is the trailer, @Shirley Martin , and I think that the actor has dine a pretty good job of copying Elvis’ moves right. It looks like they use a mixture of actual Elvis shots, and some with the actor mimicking Elvis singing. I would really like to see this movie !
We will definitely buy the DVD (Blu-Raye) when it comes out. We already have two tv recorded DVD's of Elvis. One is his 1973 concert, "Aloha From Hawaii" and the other is Elvis Lives: 25th Anniversary Concert. In this concert, thru modern technology (big screen in the back of the stage), Elvis is reunited with his band and back-up singers. The concert was on tv in 2002.
It is still $ 19.99 to watch on Prime. May watch it soon and go ahead and spend the $20 bucks to see it.
