In the recent times, we now have 2 holidays dedicated to the Muslims in our country. Eid'l Feit'r (not sure of the spelling) is the end of Ramadhan and another one Eid'l Adha is another of their religious event. The end of Ramadhan this year falls on July 17 according to some Muslims that I know. On that note, we are awaiting for the declaration of a holiday from the government. And when that day is declared a holiday, there will be jubilation because it will be a long weekend... good for a brief vacation.
When I lived in Eritrea, we had a mixture of holidays. The country is around 50/50 Muslim and Coptic Christian. The Muslim holidays were slightly unpredictable, as the position of the moon came into the equation, so you tended to find out at the last minute whether the following day was a holiday. We also had the strange situation of having two Christmas Days, the Coptic Christmas falling (I think) on January 7th.
