Or, at least it apparently works on kitty-cats. I was looking at this little video about cats and music. They wrote some music especially for cats, if you can imagine that. And the cats apparently liked it. The music has sounds in it that are similar to a calm, happy cat's heartbeat. The video shows a room (looks like a pet rescue center), and all of the cats seem to be upset at the strange place and being around other cats that they are not familiar with. When they play the music; the cats do seem to settle down, and one cat even goes and lies down next to the speakers. Very interesting little video !
There is also a video that shows plants like music also. I like to see the videos where the babies are dancing to the music with their own rhythm. Nice video. My cat never copied anything I did, maybe she didn't like me.
Pat, speaking of plants, my dad was an avid believer in singing to his plants. He always had a big garden of about an acre or so. So, he would happily report his plants were growing nicely after a he performed his personal concert for them!
I think everything responds to music. Personally I love music. It can truly change a life. If I am in a bad mood or very angry I can listen to music and a lot of the times it will cheer me up or calm me down. For some people though it can be a negative thing at times.
I agree music certainly affect my moods drastically, I discovered this during my childhood. Also as you say it can have a negative effect on some people, whereas other people I know are not interested or affected by music at all. I also believe it can have a healing effect sometimes.
Speaking of music Terry, and since you're in Russia, do you hear the song "Kalinka" played much? It's a favorite of mine.
