Soldiers, and the families of soldiers, are as varied in their politics as most groups of people in the United States. When someone chooses to speak in favor of a candidate or issue, they speak for themselves alone, and I cannot believe that anyone could be stupid or self absorbed as to believe that he can go on national television attacking one candidate, and still be a private person whose Gold Star family status should protect him from criticism. That's insane, and few people in the United States would have gotten caught up in this story without the media hype. As I've said before, we're going to see a lot of that and it doesn't really matter whether Trump says anything stupid or not because they will flat out make things up if they have to, as they have used Photoshopped images of tweets pretending to have been from Trump, and then slammed Trump for it on all of the television networks. The truth, if it comes out at all, will be a lot quieter than the false allegations.

My hope is that I am right in that the American people are sick of it, and that enough of them will be able to see through the bias and the maneuverings. My biggest fear is that, with Obama in full charge of everything having anything to do with the federal government and federal laws, the election itself will be fixed, on a level that we've never seen before. Given complicity on the part of the Republican leadership, Obama is the first president we've ever had who is not a lame duck. He rules as a sovereign rather than as a president because both the congress and the courts allow him to.

Someone please help this novice nerd with a question: What makes the opinion of this "SNOPES" sh!t so unquestionably infallible?? Are they God's gift to accuracy and truthfulness? Who/what is "Snopes".? What is the background sustenance behind the site's operators? Frank

I just got up and went through my usual rounds, Facebook, reading some other forums, etc and for the most part it's anti Trump posts and shares. I'm so sick of it. Everything is made to look like its real and most people believe it.
I believe very little and that's from both sides. I don't think anyone of us even know the real truth anymore.

It's just going to get worse and I feel this country is too divided and full of hate and neither candidate will bring us together. :(

Also, I have a friend of a friend on FB who is an 80+ year old vet, very religious and just a nice old man and he is posting these anti Trump shares all day long and my feed has nothing but this in it, I go through a page of this crap
Before I get to family posts or close friends.

I forget how to get his stuff off my page without unfriending him or blocking him. I just don't want to see his posts.

I know I've done it before but can't remember now.

They have been accused of having a liberal slant and and there was some sort of investigation if I recall but
    It was cleared up. :)

I usually check what I post if I have time because I know someone will run it through Snopes anyway.

Not so much here but other places. Anything from the right is usually false according to them.

The best I've seen them do with something conservative is parts are true or unproven.

Anything pasted in an email is usually false, those are obvious.

Could you or anyone else pulllleeeesssseee explain to me what Trump said that was so wrong?
It's a gimme that Kahn and his wife are Muslim. The wife was silent and Trump pointed it out but simply said at the end that maybe she wasn't allowed to speak. Even in some Pentacostal and Southern Baptist families the women say very little or nothing when the husband is in the lead so why doubt if the good captain's mother under Shariah law was supposed to stay dumb? Where is the hubbub with that?
Trump, to me at least, sounded very humble and was respectful concerning the dad and had virtually nothing to comment about the rant on stage at the DNC.

I have never been touted as being in the ranks of stupidity but this one totally throws me. And to what must Trump appologize for?

Here's a very well written message to Kahn from a military mother I would really like to share.

I never saw the whole thing live, just bits and pieces from all sides so don't even know exactly how it happened.

My problem with Trumps reaction is that he's trying to get elected President and he doesn't need this stuff now.

He needs to think before he says anything...why give the other side ammo? This is his main problem, he reacts too quickly and that doesn't bode well for a president. This is how I see it.

This is what I have trouble with about him, he has your vote for sure. Why do things that turn off people on the fence...he needs those votes...desperately.

He may be absolutely right about something but he always makes it come out wrong or ugly and keeps losing endorsements.

I can't be the only one that sees it this way....

Yes, he tells it like it is and I tend to agree with him but the fact that Trump has to get the votes of people on the fence who don't like his crude style is important if he wants to win.

No matter what his views and wether I agree or disagree, a President that can be baited and responds without thinking scares me.

Every time he does this type of thing, he loses endorsements. I'm sick of all the political correctness too but that doesn't mean I approve of acting like a total jerk either.

What you need to do to get rid of all that junk, @Chrissy Page , is just go to each person's page, and then choose "unfollow". I do that with everything and everyone, except my kids, which is what I have Facebook for in the first place.
You do have to go to that person's page to see what they are posting after you unfollow them, and that is what I do. Some people I check every day, and some people (ones who do not post a lot), I just check every now and then to see how things are going. The ones on the bottom of the page are the ones I seldom check.
It works really good for me, and I miss most of the everyday shares and posts (political and otherwise) that make the rounds of Facebook every day.

Ok, thanks. He's a very nice person but older and I feel he believes all these things shares, and I'm not going to bother commenting that it's false or whatever.

I don't even think he knows the difference between sites that are satire but I'm not even that close of a friend to even tell him that so just best to unfollow him.

I have a friend about the same age who does the same, who is also a veteran. This someone I know personally. I have been to his house a few times, had lunch with him several times, and worked with him on the Ron Paul campaign here in Maine in 2012. He is conservative on most issues, yet he most always votes Democrat, including voting for Obama in 2008 after being a delegate for Ron Paul during the primary. Admittedly, unless you were going to vote third party, there wasn't a conservative choice in the 2008 general election. He hates Trump, and was going for Bernie during the Democrat primary. He hates Hillary too but still posts anti-Trump stuff all the time, so my guess is that he is going to leave that space blank or write someone in, since he doesn't like Johnson (Libertarian Party) either. The best I can figure out is that he is opposed to wars, and has bought into the idea that Democrats are opposed to war. After voting for Obama in 2008, he wouldn't vote for him in 2012 because he expanded our war involvement rather than stopping it. Hence, the Ron Paul campaign.

He's not a stupid person and he's certainly not a liberal, yet he's always willing to give the Democrat a try, while if he finds anything he doesn't agree with in the Republican candidate, he won't vote for him. I don't get it. Some of it makes no sense at all. For example, he criticizes Trump because he doesn't have any military experience. Well, there is no one on the ballot in most states who has military experience, and Obama's lack of military experience didn't keep him from voting for him in 2008 despite the fact that his opponent was John McCain, a former POW.

Not much of anything, really. The best I can tell it was the assumption that maybe the wife wasn't speaking because she wasn't allowed to, but this is true (from everything I have ever heard) in many Muslim circles. Since this guy was involved in Sharia Law, I didn't think that was a bad assumption. If he had picked out some unsuspecting Muslim family to criticize, I might agree that it was uncalled for, but this guy was a speaker at the Democrat Convention, and chose to somehow blame Trump for his son's death twenty years ago.

I was just going to post the same thing, but from Breitbart.com. It includes a link to the site in the Wayback Machine. His site shows that one of the primary areas of practice for his law firm was immigration law and immigration VISAs. Also, that he spent more than a decade working for Hogan & Harrison, whose major client is Saudi Arabia. The firm that also did Clinton's taxes.

Now it's getting interesting, and I'm believing its true. Of course it's not in mainstream media ...yet.

As one comment on Reddit pointed put, they made sure it was in the news when Melania removed her website.

It will NEVER come to light if there was a payout for Kahn's speech at the DNC but I really really believe he made a ton!
If I absolutely Hated Trump, I would still look at Kahn as a big mouth Muslim lawyer making a buck on the death of his son.

But, here's the question I have now. While Kahn and his wife might be grieving for the good captain, do not their beliefs indicate that he was a martyr of sorts and subject to the finest of virgins and such? I'm not trying to be or sound cold to the sacrifice of any life of any combat soldier but it just seems that Kahn was doing a lot of play acting and not a very good job of it either. It sounded more like a summation in a court room.

It's disgusting to me that so many swallow the 'news' from primary sources hook, line and sinker. It's almost as if Americans are brainwashed to believe what they're told, without questioning anything. I find it interesting that the group in charge these days is the one that promoted questioning authority, until they became that authority.

That's true, @Diane Lane but at the same time you really can't totally believe sources than lean left or right...they too have an agenda.

Since I'm pretty much center on most things, I do see it.

I wish a site that was just facts with no slant or agenda would come about. It would have to be big enough so they could cover the news stories with reporters. Also would have to be proven totally unbiased.

I'm at the point where I don't believe anything anymore and just wait and see how things develop.

One would think there'd be a market for a news source that published the news without the opinions or the slant, or at least made an honest effort to do so.

    better info here

According to his website, Khan — an immigration lawyer — helps clients gain E-2 and EB-5 visas, which provide green cards to foreign investors along with their families. Yet this particular visa program is highly controversial and has been accused of allowing foreigners to buy residency.

    source

he is frantically shutting down his website now that's its known publicly

IMO every Muslim, man woman and child in this country should be deported. the immigration door slammed and welded shut

The Islamic terrorists didn't pay Kahn to be angry about anything. Since Kahn has a legal business which brings in unvetted Muslims into the country since his son's death, he's obviously not too upset about his son's possible killers. He doesn't know but what one of the people he's helped into this country might have been the one who orchestrated the car bomb that killed the good captain. IMHO

What irritates me is that so many give this man and others like him a platform, and those who can't think for themselves, and who are unable to reason through a topic seem to fall for this type of ploy every time.

I've seen many posting on social media about how this man deserves respect because he's a Gold Star parent. How about if he was out molesting children? Would he also deserve respect? He lost his son, as did many other parents/families. Yes, I respect those who've given to our country, but with all I'm hearing about Kahn, I wonder if his son was a plant within the military, and how patriotic he actually was.
