I am pretty sure that I have drunk things that were more disgusting than this stuff, but it is up there with the others, and I don't think this is something that I am going to grow to like, largely because I'll never buy it again.
If it is anything like ginger kombucha, then I would probably like it. I love the bottled kombucha, especially the ginger flavored one; but it is over $2 for a little bottle of it; so after i tried it, I have not gotten any more. I think that I have seen this at Whole Foods and it was in the same display case as the kombucha was in. Do you think that it tastes anything like kombucha, @Ken Anderson ? (Or is kombucha on your bad list, too?)
I have never heard of kombucha before, so I don't know. It was in the grocery store, in the cooler section of the produce area, with all of the other expensive healthy-looking drinks.
I tried kombucha at my DILs once...made me feel drunk. Also 20 grams of sugar is a lot for 8 oz....at least I think so.
It looks like what you bought was a water kefir effervescent drink, Ken. I have tried (unsuccessfully) to make water kefir, and all I ever got was sugary water that didn’t ever ferment and get effervescent. I wanted to try making kombucha, but it takes several weeks to ferment, and I figured that if I couldn’t even get the water kefir to ferment, then probably not the kombucha ether. When you had some at your DIL’s house , @Chrissy Cross , was it some she had made, or some that she bought ? The bottle I bought didn’t have 20 carbs in it, I think that it was less than 6 carbs.
She bought the kombucha and it made me feel drunk, didn't know the nutrition on it..my comment about the 20 g sugar was in Ken's drink...for the bottle.
