I was wondering how many of us go to karaoke clubs and sing? I love going and whether my voice is in tune or having an off night, I always have a good time. In the States, I would always go to the stage and sing, which was a lot of fun, especially at places like The Barbary Coast Casino in Las Vegas where you always had a big crowd but even the small places were a lot of fun. Here in Thailand, we just sit on couches and when it is our time, one of the servers will bring the mike to us. On occasion, I will try singing a Thai song, but always die in the middle. The words are in English, but I always start laughing at my pronunciation!
I've never been to a karaoke club but I do have a karaoke machine, three of them actually. My sisters (two) and I used to have pretend microphones and would have our own sing alongs. I'm hoping that we will be able to do that again someday of course we'll have our own karaoke.
Singing is so much fun! Back in the States there were some people who would just start to whistle once in awhile, but here, people will just start to sing a song, regardless of location. when they feel inspired. Some are great and some not too good but it is just as common as scratching an itch!
Singing now that brings back memories . On long journeys when spirits were flagging, someone would inevitably strike up a song, and no matter how tired you felt you joined in. There is something about song that no matter what the circumstances are , it pulls people together. Its a sense of sharing. Can I sing.... like a strangled lark
