Now I can tell the difference in a mosquito bite, tick bite and chiggar.

The itch is different. Although describing the different itches is lacking. Also the bite sites are different.
I told Jake their is a mosquito in the house somewhere, he ask how I know its not a tick or chiggar, I told him doesn't feel like one of those, it is a mosquito.
He asks how I know, I replied, that's a stupid question. The itch is difference of course.

I just read a few days ago that castor oil may repels chiggers and mosquitos. I haven't tried it yet, but it is cheap and good for the skin, and non-toxic. It is also reported to be a rodent repellent if sprayed on the ground with a soap mixture. I may try that as a vole repellent, as that is the only real small native pest we have here.
