@Chrissy Page, You are one of the lucky in the gene pool, and a beautiful lady. Although you look so quite and calm, I've learned in the last couple of years that you can be a hoot. You have a sense of humor that can be surprisingly funny and klutzy as well.

Do you give Pickles a treat when he gets to his destination? Does he ride in a crate, or do you let him ride up front with you?

Thanks Ina! He rides up front with me and doesn't move or look out the front, faces the side window. Pickles always gets a treat. :) he's a dachshund. I really don't understand his fear of the car either, he loves being at my daughters and he knows where we are going because the minute I get off hwy 101 he stands up and looks out the window. He does it in the same spot every time.

He also starts barking once we've gone thru the second gate and are close to her house, he is ready to jump out!

Chrissy, lovely photo... I think we're ageing at the same rate chica...I have a similar photo of me at 50....but in the last year or 2 I've kinda really felt I've come into a new style....'''the worn out Look''....no seriously, I think I've been very lucky with my inherited Genes, so I can't really complain too much, and many people in real life still don't believe I'm 60....but I've noticed a bigger and faster difference in the last year or 2 than any other time in my life...I think pain and stress shows a lot on someone's face regardless of how much upbeat they are about things!!

Well, yesterday was an exhausting day both physically and mentally at work..so the less said about that the better.

Got home and my neighbour had taken a parcel in for me, so I went to collect it and spoke to the eldest daughter who was visiting.. who tells me ''mum' ( who has been my neighbour for 35 years, has now been diagnosed with dementia and alzheimers, after her recent stroke....and is going down fast

Very sad, this is a lady I've known almost all of my adult life...and yes she's 85 years old, but you know, wherever I have travelled and worked and lived in in the world..I've always kept this house, and when I've returned, ''Barbra* has always been there ..always a constant, and it will be a huge hole not to have her here any more , either mentally or physically...sooo sad!! :(

Yesterday (my day off) a friend and I went to lunch here:

    http://onefiftycentral.com/documents/Lunch-Menu-12-7-2015-pdf.pdf

We both had Clams Casino for starters; they were fabulous and fresh.
She had the special; Blackened Salmon with caramelized onions and veggies.
I had the Burger, craving as I was for red meat after a few days of chicken.
    House cabernet, no dessert. (oof)

I'm drooling! I'm sooo hungry today.

I'll have the large house salad. :( Why oh why do I care about 3-4 measly pounds?

I love looking at restaurant menus and before I go anywhere I look at their menu online if available.

I been a bit quite the last few days, feeling sorry for myself. You know the boohoo thing.

After talking to a friend, I realized I can't hide forever. So I got my behind up today and took my meds for the pain, let them work, and then got myself to the VA hospital. I went through the background check, and psychological exam, and believe it or not I passed. Next Wednesday I go for the orientation and fingerprinting process.

Then I start with chapel duty, so I can get to know the permanent residents. In a couple of months I'll be transfered to the NVDA unit. (No Veterans Dies alone) And they want me to start working in the art program as well.

I asked them if I could come up with a few rehabbed Kindle Fire tablets could I start a program to get the permanent residents online to expand their communications with others. I already have people willing to help me with the funding of the tablets. The VA likes the idea, but of course their is some red tape to go through with the VA. They will have to provide online access for the residents that doesn't involve the VA's network.

It's time I found out what I want to do with my empty life. It feels selfish, but then I realize, "What else am I going to do?"

Today has been my day off after a very hard week..

I got my ''Urgent appointment '' through today for the hospital..** end of february*.. so much for *urgent* o_O...anyway that aside..I should have just taken things a bit easy today, but I'd got so much to catch up on at home that I hadn't had time for this last week...so I set to..and cleaned the house, then Ironed a huge pile of clothing including all the linens and bedding...that's a back killer on it's own, but it has to be done, and I'm very happy it's all finished and put away for another week!! :D I just couldn't settle down , so I decided to make some Beef Bourguignon & Mushroom Pies . So now everything is scrubbed, ironed, washed, and cooked...so tomorrow I can go out and celebrate my wedding anniversary without feeling anxious I have work to do at home before returning to work on Monday!! :D

@Holly Saunders , I get the 'get'er all done mode'. I used to drive my family crazy with it on my days off work. I also had a bad habit of changing all the furniture around as well. It was my way of redecorating about twice a year. But when one of them wanted something they couldn't find, I always knew where it was.

I had a really neat text today. My 28 y/o grandson asked me if he and his girlfriend could come visit me on 2/29 Monday evening. And he wants to cook me dinner!!

I haven't seen him since just after his grandfather died a little over a year ago. He works as a full time electrician, and he is going to night school for a degree in electrical engineering, so I knew he had little free time.

Seth's father was murdered when he was almost six, so I took care of him and his older sister for many years as their mother married someone not interested in children, and then she decided to go to work. Shortly after this happened he asked me to teach him to cook like I did his daddy. (His mother didn't cook), We cooked together until he was into his teens, and then of course growing up took him off to where he needed to be.

He told me he was sorry I had been left alone so much, he thought his sister, mother, and aunt were keeping up with me. At the family Valuntine's Day get together he asked where I was, and that was when the others admitted they had been too busy to keep in touch.

So, (crossing my finger), I'm hoping this is a new beginning with with my grandchildren. I think D'Ann will start seeing me again since she can't stand to be one upped by her little brother.

The loss of contact wasn't all their fault, their papaw got really sick, and we had to stop going places, and recieving guest became something that caused their papaw to catch whatever was going around. So we lost touch back in '10.

So now I'm excited to see they, and I still can't believe Seth is going to cook for the three of us.

Any ideas as to what I can get as a thank you gift for the occassion?

I have been seeing this thread but I avoided posting because my weekdays is mostly full of complaints about the traffic. Although there are good days but I think I will just let this out of my head. I usually leave home for work by 5:30am to avoid the heavy traffic in the main road during rush hour. Now, define rush hour? As far as I know, rush hour in Metro Manila starts when the sun shines and ends before midnight. I'm not kidding.

This morning was the usual early me, had dressed up by 5am and was ready to go before 5:30am. So far, so good. However, when I was about a kilometer away from our office, there was this school that had the early traffic. Maybe that school.has an affair so the students came earlier... hitting my travel period. I reached the office after 7am. It was really a... sorry, I can't find the right adjective, the 12 kilometer trip took me almost 2 hours.

Sounds like the traffic in London @Corie Henson very typical to take 2 hours to travel 12 miles through the city sometimes. Thank goodness I don't have to travel into the city for my daily work...and on the occasions when i do for meetings etc I take the train.
