What do you think influences many young folks to do, say, look they way they do? When you were these young folks age, did anyone influence you into anything?
Yes...but not appropriate to repeat on here. Who or what drives the young ones today is scary - I fear their futures.
Elementary school. middle school, high school, college, and whatever they consider to be entertainment and media.
The only thing that influenced me was smoking, I tried it, I liked it Everything else no - I was an individual and if people around me did stupid things they could go ahead without me
Well, talk about influencing the young crowd, read about Post Malone, the white rapper. He states in an interview that the way he looks and talks he does to "piss my mother off". He's got a major fan base and is up for a major music award.
Social media has probably given entertainers far more influencing power than most of them have brains for.
Apparently there are more young white kids into rap than I ever thought. At one time, rap was basically black music, but there are past white rappers and current ones. Some look really, really wild, while some others not so much. One thing for sure, their appearance and rebellious "thinking" does influence young kids. Especially those kids that don't like their parents rules.
Actually, way back in the late 80's, I was influenced to try Copenhagen tobacco by a couple of rodeo dudes I knew. I tried it, but wound up using Skoal tobacco (long cut). There are those that think "dipping/spitting" is disgusting and those that don't think that way. There are plenty of people, in the horse/cattle environment, that either have used it or still do. As for me, I stopped using that tobacco in 2005 when I started noticing it was irritating the inside of my lower lip. Very, very glad I stopped.
I can’t say much. Elvis, Jackie Kennedy’s hair style, The Beatles, II WW, Korean War, the Vietnam War and we who were of that generation have passed on some pretty scary stuff which lead to even more scary stuff.
I also know how the Senior generation feels about the illegal drug scene today among young folks, but then again, there were illegal heavy drugs back in our day as well. Like at Woodstock and Monterey Music Festival in 1967. Some of us, like myself, got influenced by others our age to try something. My ex and her brother were into marijuana, joints and bongs, and had me do both. I didn't continue using either, but did try each.
The first rapper than I heard was MC Hammer singing Can't Touch This. There are white rappers, like Eminem, that don't have any facial tattoos, then there are some, like Post Malone, that do. I simply don't understand the whole "facial tattoos" thing, but, they are getting more and more popular with young folks. Influenced by Post Malone and others, don't know, but.
OMG...Hold the Boat.....!!! @Cody Fousnaugh admitting to taking illegal drugs?.... you've seriously let me down Cody, there was me thinking what a clean living guy you must be after all your shock at everyone else's behavior ..and now your admitting to be an ex drug user. I couldn't have invented this..what a prize!!
