Buffets in hotels are very expensive but we go there once in a while just for the taste... especially when I have a discount coupon. Last night I used my hotel coupon for a 50% discount in the buffet dinner - all 7 of us that costs 11,000 pesos or roughly $300. But it was worth it because the children enjoyed the food. And since they are used to dining in buffets, they already know how to eat in the right way, i.e. spacing the food intake. We started eating at 6:30pm and finished at 9 pm. You can imagine the amount of food we had ingested especially the kids who are voracious eaters.

I still have another buffet coupon for this month so I promised to go back to that buffet dinner at the end of the month. Huh, that's Halloween.

I once had Thanksgiving buffet at one of the Doubletree hotels with friends. It was good! I don't remember the price.

I have never done this myself but sometimes I wonder how many people stop off at hotels that they are not staying in for their complimentary breakfasts. Actually, I think I did once, but I didn't think of it at the time. My wife and I were staying at one hotel while some friends were at another, and we went to pick them up in the morning so that we could go to Washington D.C. together. They were on their way down for breakfast, and they invited us to join them. I didn't think of it at the time, but it was a complimentary breakfast, with no one there to collect money, and certainly no one checking to see if anyone was actually a guest at the hotel. It wasn't one of those near worthless roll and coffee breakfasts either, but a breakfast buffet with eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, waffles, etc.

Ive gone to many buffets from cheap to very expensive (when I'm not paying). Every Easter my daughter and her husband and the 2 grandsons go to a hotel Easter Brunch which is about $50 a person and the first few years it was very good and worth it...they had all the expensive items like crab, etc....but this last year there was no crab and the food quality really went down and I dont think we are going back.

At any buffet I go for the protein and not the cheap fillers like pasta, etc...I want to get my or the person paying money's worth. I also tend to eat too much for the same reason.

Casino buffets are usually pretty good and not too high in price.

When I was still involved with my ex boyfriend we would go to Table Mountain Casino here in Fresno for the buffet and a little gambling....wasnt too expensive and a fun day.
