It Lights you up!
Another Beat,es hit...
....as I was saying, Welcome to Hi-Goodbye Coffee! I just got back from the National Donut Convention....the traffic sure was crummy!
@Joe Riley, thank you for reviving this thread.
The theme this year was "I Love Donuts"! Real original, I know, Not as many attended....it seems the donuts kill off more people each year! ....They provide more attrition than nutrition, I guess. Am reprinting the telegrams I sent each day, below:
Day One – Monday
We arrived safely and are ensconced in the Éclair Sweet at the Majestic Hotel STOP We have kept the Bell- Hops hopping and we get free coffee delivered all week long STOP Donuts are rolling into town from all over the Country, for this big event STOP Local TV have a 24 hour “Dirty Dozen Marathon” planned for today STOP What more could we ask for STOP More later STOP
Day Two –Tuesday
Arrived early at Donut Center, for all day caucus to discuss the shortening of the Baker’s Dozen to 11 STOP Heated debate ahead on this one STOP Crullers are dead set against STOP Plan to dunk into funds for night on town STOP Icing on donut STOP
Day Three – Wednesday
Events have been swell, and have met some “Upper Crust” as well as some “Crumbs”, here at the Donut Convention Center STOP True to expectations, eyes are “glazing over”, as we dunk into our reserves of energy STOP More later STOP Movie Marathon for today is “Twelve Angry Donuts” STOP
Day Four – Thursday
Big speeches planned by “Cream-filled” leaders followed by Crowning “Miss Donut” and Donut Parade STOP Top notch weather, so far STOP To enter Donut Eating Contest this morning, so wish me Luck STOP Plan to leave early, to get back to SOC….if feeling OK STOP
I gotta catch up on my sleep, will reopen on Monday. Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms!
Cenior City's finest, were out in full force to help with crowd control, this morning, as we reopened, after our "two week" hiatus! It reminded me of the high number of police at the National Donut Convention! Their belts....and security was tight!
Sure has been busy, this morning. Shorty our cook asked if I had any "convention" pictures....I had dropped them off at Ken's Foto, down the street and they promised their Rush 48 hour Service. Seems Ken has a machine that will develop a picture in 48 hours! Imagine. So when I pick them up, I will show a few.
The Apple family stopped by for breakfast. That's Ollie & Elli Apple. Ollie's Dad, Ira, owns "The Apple Orchard" on the edge of town, and always gets a kick when folks stop and ask "But what's the NAME of the orchard"? And Ellie's Granny Smith, gets a chuckle when she bites into a .....Granny Smith.
Gotta go....this place has been a "madhouse"....thinkin of gettin a new sign made.
While we were closed, the Jukebox was sent out for repair. In the midst of every thing going on, it was returned today, good as new. They didn't break any records!
Had quite a pile of mail from the PO to go through....and a telegram from Mayor Kelly. He was pleased with his free lunch!
Welcome to Hi-Goodbye Coffee!
Nothing like a good cup of coffee and good song to pick me up.
Hi Sherl! Thanks for stopping by.....coffee's fresh!
Flo has got the staff all fired up with her idea to have a "Harry & Megan Royal Wedding Day", here at the Hi-Goodbye on the 19th! Shorty said he could serve Wedding Rings cereal & make English muffins......we'll have to wait & see!
Thank, Shirley, that is a keeper!
