Hi to all. I'm Mike. An almost 73yo Londoner who just over 3 years ago emigrated to Scotland. I've lived in London most of my life but decided I needed a change. My wife succumbed to the 'Big C' 10 years ago this week and I now live with my daughter just on the edge of the Highlands.
Glad to have you here. I am a recent "joinee" myself. Relatively little conflict or political distemper. I like it like that. Welcome!
Hello, Mike from the "Rocker" aka, former Classic Rock drummer. Very nice folks here. Yes, also love that old British rock.
Thank you to all. I've actually just recently abandoned another senior forum where they seemed to prefer to talk around you, past you or through you! Very rarely to you. So. Good riddance! AS I said. I left London 3 years ago and haven't been back since! And I'm not missing it one tiny bit! I now live with my daughter and two totally mental Chihuahuas!
heyy Mike....welcome to the forum... if you left one of the bigger British forums of which I'm very familiar , you might find it a little quiet here.. however, everyone is very welcoming.. You and I are opposites, I was born and raised near Loch Lomond on the West coast..and as a young adult moved here to the rural edge of North London ..of which I'm sure you're probably familiar.. I'd love to return to Scotland but after 40 years years of Southern dry warm weather I don't think I could cope with the cold and rain any more..but I do miss the beauty of the West Coast...the most beautiful place in the whole of the Uk without doubt
Yes. We are not far from Loch Lomond and we've visited there a few times. I actually lived in Ilford in East London. I sold my one bedroom flat for enough to buy a four bedroom house and a '2nd hand' car up here!
yes I know Ilford went there once... not keen to repeat that experience lol...now, the west coast of Scotland and East London couldn't be more different than the moon and the earth could it..?.. if you ever go to Stirling, say hi for me..its where I was born...
Stirling is actually my nearest large town and where we do most of our shopping. And I agree with you entirely about Ilford.
