Mark Knopfler is without a doubt, a master of the guitar. Not only because of his technic that spans both fingerpicking and flat picking and several genres, but because of his musical genius. He is, without a doubt, at the top of the list of rock guitarist.

Here we have a master of classical and flamenco guitar performing Marks, Sultans of Swing. Because there are 10s of thousands of guitar masters spanning all genres, it is impossible to say who is the best. We can say who we prefer to listen to or watch play, but that is it.

When someone as educated and talented as Pedro can turn your tune into a masterpiece of guitar excellence, that is an honor without blemish.

I don’t know what it takes to be a master guitarist but for many years, I’ve thought Leo Kotke was a top notch guitarist.

In another genre, I recently discovered Marcel Coenen (with one of Arjen Lucassen’s projects) who plays for a couple different groups.

I just found this on youtube, and , to me, this is a beautiful song played magnificently on this old guitar.
