    This might interest @Sheldon Scott when he's feeling better. I might have to enter this myself, although I don't have many original recipes. I was looking for a recipe, and Taste of Home is usually my go to site for recipe, and while there, I stumbled upon this contest for recipes. The prize is $1,000, and I know I could sure use an extra grand. I know some of y'all like to cook, so I thought I'd share it here. The recipes have to be submitted by October 28th.

    I just noticed that there are several recipe contests on that same link, so have fun!

    This looks like a good contest. However, we don't have much original recipes here that you cannot find in the internet. For example, the most popular dish here is the adobo which is a mix of pork and chicken that is cooked in vinegar and soy sauce. There are lots of recipes out there in the internet. By the way, I have checked the site and one contest is on a soup recipe. Maybe I can join with our loofah soup, it's quite unique and I'm sure there's no recipe in the internet for that.

    Thanks for sharing @Diane Lane, I do love to cook, but the recipies I use aren't original. Of course, modifying recipies could probably count as an original creation. I would hope so anyway. it does sound like an interesting contest, and one that many people will enjoy. I think if i had a really good one though, I would try to win the Pillsbury bake off for a million dollars! I tried one of the winning recipes once, I didn't think it was all that delcious really, but I bet some are!

    @Diane Lane thanks for sharing.
    btw when I was in grade school in the 1950s the mother of a classmate won the Pillsbury Bake off- $25,000 which would be about $200,000 in today's dollars. It was a simple recipe for an apple turnover type dessert

    I've noticed that in the past, also. I've looked over some of the recipes in these types of contests, and they don't seem all that incredible or original, yet they win. That would be nice to win something that large that would be life-changing. Here's a link with some of the highlights of the Pillsbury Bake Off from the various decades. I enjoy scrolling through recipes for ideas, but I don't cook or bake nearly as much as I used to. @Corie Henson I double checked and the contests is only open to those in the US and Canada, minus Quebec, but you do have relatives in the US, so you could probably still enter that way.

    Gee, thanks very much for letting me know that fine print. Yeah, from time to time, I have been seeing sites that only cater to residents of US and Canada which autmatically disqualifies me. I have so many relatives in different parts of the US but I don't think it is worth it to disturb them with that contest. And besides, I'm not really a cook much more a chef so I will just watch this thread for some recipes to be posted by some community members.
