I can tell if someone smokes just from hearing them talk on the telephone. My son has a lady friend who chain smokes. I know when he has been to her house because I smell the stink on his clothes by the time he gets in the door. Happy birthday, Steve, on Tuesday.
Thank-you Shirley for the birthday wishes...... Smoking is very addictive and isn't easy to stop especially if you have been smoking for many years.. No question that it isn't good for you and will definitely shorten your life.. Today, it isn't cheap either...
I don't see how people can afford cigarettes these days. Gas has gone so high here that we may not go to the river much this summer. I think I might have said that but I'm not sure. So, just in case, I'll say it again. And groceries!!!!! We paid over $5 for a quart of Dukes mayonnaise the other day.
Same here in Aussie land , some can’t even afford a roof over their heads as rent prices are Out of hand really ….. let alone smoking I’ve never been guilty in even buying and smokes for anyone one or myself. We called to see my son / DIL / Kids yesterday she’s a good economical cook as is her sister ( who lives with them ) who grew up in poverty in the Philippines . Both her and my son work , as dose her sister who’s in Aust on a Woking visa I believe she’s got someone who’s going to sponsor her to stay her in Aust she’s certainly a good worker
.................. I MADE IT ... !!!!!! ............. Today I officially can say, I am now 82 years young and as of tomorrow i will be in my 83rd year... Honestly, I really don't feel my age..
Some days, I do and some days I don't, Steve. My health is generally good, but I just don't have as much energy as I used to. Kate & Louise, I never smoked, either. When we first got married, we were so poor that we couldn't afford cigarettes and Pepsi colas both. I wouldn't give up my Pepsi for a cigarette.
I hated the smell of then just living in a smokers x2 house ,my grand parents smoked as well and my gran died suddenly of a heart attack ……she was 68 ,she apparently said to grandad she felt funny , walked into the bedroom to lay down …and died
Omg ….Steve where did the last 2 years go so fast ….it’s only yesterday we celebrated your 80th I’m not far behind you …I’m 80 in 2026 ..that’s less than 3 years
A few days ago we had frost and below freezing temperatures... The past 2 days and for the rest of the week, we are getting daytime temperatures at 34c to 37c and sunny.. What a difference a few days makes.. It is way too hot for me at that temperature.. I can't take it..
Looks like we will be having 2 funerals in the near week.. Our dog that died in March will be buried this Sunday in our back field.. We couldn't do it before this as the water table was too high.. Our son is cremated and we will be having a church service in Ottawa in the near future as soon as his wife can get here from the Philippines..
Wait a minute . Steve, his wife was in the Philippines? was your son there too when he passed away? or at home in Canada?
I think Steve's son spent six months with his family in the Philippines and six months in Canada. Sounds like a perfect arrangement for a happy marriage to me.
David was in Ottawa when he died.. He worked and lived there as president of the union.. He has a wife and family in the Philippines where he would spend several months at a time there while he worked from home which was there.. Married with 4 girls over there.....
