We bought a Nissan Qashqai in February @Steve North we love it ..it’s no bigger on the outside than the Toyota Corolla I had, but so so comfy and roomy inside with all we want in a car ,higher to get in and out of as well so much better on the legs and back ....we only got a model one up from the basic one ST+ there is two models above it the extras they had that we don’t care about ........was heated seats / electric seats / larger wheels that hubs did homework about before buying the car and by having the larger wheels it will cost us an extra $600 ( so it would be $300 a TYRE) ... to replace because they are bigger/ leather seats ( I’m happy with cloth seats ) that’s all I think and it was on average about $6. 000 dearer
It was a Nissan Rogue that I was looking at... again, It had all the goodies including All Wheel Drive, a sliding roof, electric seats, lane changer and many many more options.. Yes it was lovely and impressive, but I just couldn't see myself paying all that money for a car that I drive only 6000kms a year.. My KIA isn't broken at all and for a 2017, it only has 40,000kms.. It is still under warranty till the year 2022.. It too has all the options including All Wheel Drive, heated seats, and many more.. Now, I also have 4 studded winter tires for my KIA, mounted on steel rims, that cost me 2 years ago just over $1,000... They will last me for the life of the car and are necessary up here with our winters.. The Rogue has a different size wheel and that would mean another purchase of winter tires.. I also undercoat my cars every year for rust protection.. All in all, I just can't justify the total cost for a newer car when mine is still very OK.. I don't dislike my car, it is just that I was looking at something newer...
Steve, my 2012 Honda only has 39,000 miles on it. I doubt if I will ever trade it. I love it. I had some new tires put on it today. The ones on it were the original tires and I thought they might be dry rotted. I should be good to go for the foreseeable future.
We bought a new car as we decided to only have one car because of the ever increasing cost of having two cars One was kept to tow the caravan . It was on our list of things to do was to travel to Queensland in comfort as my poor ole girl had well over 200.000 km on it ..but we all know that travel won’t be happening ...the Queensland border has been shut to day with a big loud bang ..if you live in Qld and away in another state the only way you can go home is to fly ..you can’t even drive home cause you have to drive through states like NSW because all places there are classed as Covid hot spots
Kate, if you live in Queensland and are away, they won't let you drive home????? That sounds mighty harsh. I thought that everywhere let you go home but you had to quarantine for two weeks. is the virus that bad there?
Pretty harsh I recon ,here is a update for Queenslanders .....you have to leave you car somewhere only fly in you can’t drive , and if you’ve been in a hotspot you have to pay $3.000 to isolate in a hotel The border zone is because they have an odd border at Coolangatta where we normally go ( one side of Main Street is Qld the other NSW ) you can only enter Qld if you live and work near the border think it a 50 km limit if that’s the case
That’s the thing I don’t understand either, it you have to get a test if you fly into Adelaide ( not sure about Queensland ) So Victoria is completely closed stage 4 shut down ...Qld borders closed ... ..NSW entire state is a hot spot ....that’s where @Craig Wilson lives ...the Australian Capital Territory hot spot that’s our capital of Aust ...
Paranoia by the Qlder socialist Premier banning people from my state which has had minimum cases and no deaths in the second wave.. compared to Victoria State that has raised our national death toll to 266 from 105 at the start of July.
We had planned a 6 week stay in Queensland @Craig Wilson it’s all booked ...we was due to leave on September 11th It’s kinda strange .. Odd actually people can still enter Qld by Northern Territory But it would make our trip 4.000 km each way as opposed to about that there and back via NSW . Big sigh ..,
Now that is different about that border in the middle of town.. We have a similar situation here in the province of Quebec where the border between Canada and the USA also runs down the middle of the street.. One side of the street is Canada and the other side is USA.. There are 2 gas stations facing each other and one is in liters as it is in Canada and the other is in US gallons with different prices..
The area pictured is a nightmare in summer because NSW takes part in daylight saving however Queensland refuses to take part so It’s an hours difference in time depending on what side of the street your on In Summer months
